ALB-7. About 4 or 5 shots today that i expecetd him to spill and he held them all.

Sweens-7.

Humps-1 for 1st half. 4 for 2nd half.

Nelson-7. Did better today. Maybe because he was with Clark? Still wish Wilson would have aword and tell him never to hit long passes.

Collins-2. Stupid first challenge. Probabaly do better without him.

Clark-6.5. Couple of dodgy moments and awful attempt to tackle Lewington for his goal.

Jones-7.

Monkhouse-5.5.

Brown-6.5.

Porter-6.

Kyle-6.

Liddle-6.5. Better than his usual performances.

Robson-7. If for that bit of skill in the corner alone. The more I see him play, the more I like him. :uhoh:

MadJohn, can you give us the stats for goals scored with Kyle in the team and without? As much as I like him, I really dont think it suits our style. Were completely bypassing our midfield.

Oh well. Easy game in the league coming up

We normally play football despite having Kyle up front. Today even before the sending off we seemed to have the gameplan to play the high ball. I can only think danny felt Franchise fc would struggle against the high ball.

I thought Kyle played quite well to say he was often fouled and was used as a lone striker (and I'm not a massive fan of him so far)

kyle was class

hassled and fought their defence all game - 4 (tall skinny puff) and 6 (baldy) were pushed, nipped, kicked, intimidated, and knew he was there every second of the game - at last a forward who is a bit o a nasty bastarad rather than a nice guy

The fact that kyle is being praised for his hitting, nipping and shoving the Dons players in the penalty area at corners is unbelievable! What if he'd been caught? The fact that it was all missed shows how bad the ref was. Would it still have been as funny if he'd given away a penalty? He could have been given a red card for raising his arm. How funny - down another player down!!

some of you obviously forgot we were playing with 10 men for most of the match.

Yet again Kyle won 90% of headers, his flick ons were intelligent, when he had chance to control the ball he did and laid it off well.

The main problem today was after around 20 mins he had his partner moved back in to midfield to compensate the sending off. What this meant was all those intelligent flick ons went straight to an MK dons player. The players kept hoofing it to his head (thats not HIS fault).

Fair point, he did win a lot of headers and too often there was no one near him to pick up the loose ball.

I thought Lewington played very well yesterday, and it's the first time I've said that. He's always been highly rated and he gets enough praise from enough people in the game to suggest he is clearly a very good player. But I've never understood how he gets so much praise from Pools supporters other than through his reputation alone. He's never really stood out against us. He played ok in our 1-0 win in 06/07 and in the goalless draw at their place, but he was outstandingly terrible in the other games at the Vic and pretty poor in the 4-2 at the hockey stadium as well.

I missed the 2-1 defeat in 2006. He must have been seriously bloody impressive in that game!!!

Maybe he stands out to lots of Pools fans cos he is a competent left back? bbolt

Anyway, ratings;

Lee-Barrett- 7
Sweeney- 7
Humphreys- 3
Collins- 2
Nelson- 5
Clark- 6
Jones- 6
Monkhouse- 4
Brown- 5
Kyle- 5
Porter- 5
Robson- 6
Liddle- 5

actually we played the whole second half 3-4-2, so he wasnt without a strike partner.

i thought he was the pick of a poor bunch on the attacking front yesterday, though i fail to see what is intelligent about heading the ball to the opposition.

its not his fault he isnt suited to the way we play though. as clough memorably said, if god wanted us to pump the ball forward in the air he would have put grass in the sky.
when balls are played to your head the only option is to flick it on, no?

I thought Kyle was very average. People keep saying about him winning most of the headers, he's 6ft 4 ffs, he should win EVERY header. For a centre forward he doesnt score nearly enough goals and I dont think he's worth 8k a week.

Apart from that, he's not too bad!!!

Do give over. Listing people who have the same opinion as 'knowledgable' makes you look very silly.

To be honest though there are so many dumb folk on here who were giving players like Ritchie an 8 after Saturdays performance that seeing 'reasonable' scores like Rippers does make him look sensible by comparison.

They may not be as intelligent or as sensible as me, but they are not too far behind.
