ALB 7 : Cocked up one clearance, other than that very little to do. Fairly safe handling, but was rarely tested.

Sweeney 8 : Very impressive. Up and down the line all game and did what he had to do defensively. Laid the second goal on a plate for Liddle.

Nelson 9 : Superb. Didn't put a foot wrong all night and has now set the stamdard for the rest of the season. Immense in the air, and played the easy short ball all night.

Clark 8 : Brilliant foil for Nelse, and did his fair share of spadework. used the ball well when he had it, but knew instinctively when to put his foot in.

Humps 7 : Steady away, with a couple of minor errors. Linked up well with Matty in the first half, but did everything he could to get forward

Brown 6 : Quiet one again, but never really got much to feet to run at their ropy defence. Needs to graft a bit more when its not going his way.

Jones 9 : Superb, and showed superb stamina to do the box to box stuff. Broke up their play brilliantly but also made us tick going forward. On the quiet he's been a very very good signing.

Liddle 8 : Did well and complements Jones well. Did a lot of the scruffy stuff and contested the midfield very well. Thought he didn't track back enough for their goal, but atoned with a cool finish.

Robson 9 : Excellent performance. Bombed forward all first half without really finding his range with his crosses, but was a constant threat. Looked a bit uncomfortable at left back and confirmed that he's much better going forward.

Baby David 5 : Only a couple of glimoses of anything of first team standard. Made a lot of poor choices, but got a couple of good shots away that caused problems. Sadly, not the answer.

Porter 8 : Did very well, despite wearing that wanker Elphick round his neck for 90-odd minutes. Penalty was never in doubt, and he even found the nergy to lose his rag and bump into about six Brighton players after getting halved.

SUBS

Mackay 7 : Hassled their back four well, and was so nearly away for a shot on goal with an intelligent run.

Monky 8 : Narky and niggly and threw himself into some tackles. Ran at them as well, which we haven't seen for a while.

SUMMARY

A very well deserved win, and we outclassed Brighton comprehensively for much of the game. First half we huffed and puffed but lacked a cutting wdge, but second half we were well worth our win, and possibly could have scored more. No doubt we'll make it hard for ourselves at Fleetwood, simply because we've given ourselves a great chance of a big game in the third round.

but you just know he will........... the only upside to that is Clark's grit in midfield will be welcome at a place like Leeds. It's no place for the Foleys of this world either - Monkhouse has to be put back in the starting line up on Saturday.
Didn't Robson score a pearler there in the reserves a few weeks back? I'd give him a run at left back and drop Humphreys to the bench for this one. The only choice to be made then is whether Liddle or Jones partners Clark in the middle (I'm basing everything on the assumption that Collins will be put back in - which I think he will, and that Brown will revert to right wing and Kyle will play up front with Porter)

i was about to ask if it was only me who thought we were frustratingly poor last night. Apart from a twenty minute spell in the second half where we tore them apart we looked like a bunch of strangers. Funny thing opinions like. Only bonus was i got in for free!

Like Mr Ripper I would have given Browny the lowest rating. I am a big fan of his but he was non-existent again last night. He looked a bit livelier when he was moved out to the right - I think this may be his most suited position, he just hasn't got the body strength to play down the middle. We missed Kyle, thats for sure. We put in some lovely crosses but there was nobody there to get on the end of them. I'm backing KK to notch on Saturday

With Kyle in the side we will just bypass the midfield again with long balls and get nowhere near as many crosses in.

But thats the point. Its no use putting over great crosses when there is no one other than Kyle capable of getting on the end of them. Browny still has a long way to go to convince me his best position is in the centre.

sctatchinghead I think you misread. He says we put loads of great crosses in last night and im pointing out that when Kyle is in the side- we DONT get in positions to cross the ball.
