While doing a charity run with five of his colleagues in Lisburn. In County Antrim. They had parked their mini bus in Market Square, The IRA attached a booby trap bomb to the mini bus. After running for their charity’s they boarded the bus, on starting the engine the bus exploded killing all six soldiers, This outrage was condemned by all as the soldiers were running to help local charities. The IRA admitted to this cowardly act.
