Post subject: Should Wilson Be Judged Yet???
PostPosted: Sat Nov 11, 2006 9:25 pm
That performance today was hardly the best ive seen this season , the weather was horrific for the players and as for the tactics I think Wilson was spot on today putting that into context and all the injurys we have a bare bones team at the minute.
Wilson should not be judged this season, next season is key - and im sorry but we are just gonna have to be patient, hes inherited a bad side and it is more then likely gonna get worse before things start to improve..

I've given up on this season, I'm just taking it on a match by match basis. We can't win the league, we probably won't get promotion, but we might win a match or two.

But...if we stuff next season then I really will be pissed off.

Talking about the weather, a goal kick for each team sat up in the air and dropped straight down vertically, amazing...one of the highlights of the game.

personally, I think we might be a non-league club in time for our centenary.

Even if we won the next match 5-0, we won't be a good team. For my faith to be restored and for me to believe we are good again we will need to win at least 6 in a row.

I think everyone is losing the will to live the way things are going at the moment but there has to be at least 2 teams crapper than us in this division hasn't there?

So, for example, Chelsea have won the league two years running and then lose against the front wheelers, they are cack

Liverpool won the 8 out of 8 league championships in the 80's, but then finished 2nd, they were cack?

we are now a mediocre team and I am sure we can all agree on that!

I agree with that, but my problem is I refuse to accept it. I refuse to accept we are mediocre. Its too easy to accept mediocrity. We have to deal with it, but we dont have to accept it.

I do too, but the board, manager and team seem to accept it....

Again, I agree. But its why I like to shout the odds on here, just in the hope that the club look and get the message that some of us, who were around in the 70's and 80's, dont think its OK to be shite again.

I know people on here dont agree with me, but I do believe, that a few posters on here are positively revelling in our mediocrity. It makes them feel superior, as they can tell every one that its still better than it was under Vince Barker.

See i wasnt supporting Pools (or watching them) till 1989/1990 so have seen about eight good seasons, but I still can't fathom why KH &Co have allowed us to be dragged down with the shite, it really does puzzle me why they cant bite the bullet and pay the deadwood off

Cornelius has touched on something there which has crossed my mind a few times. The fans didn't back up Hodcroft, when he made his feelings known that we should all get onto the council about them not selling the ground. Maybe he is now thinking, "Well I'll sicken you bastards then, you can have a shite team and I'm going to do fuck all about it, the same as you lot did to me."
Just a thought, like.

No - I think that is taking paranoia a little too far

We are quite simply a mediocre team not, with a manager appointed too late to do anything about it

I don't subscribe to the old "IOR do't want promotion" etc conspiracy theories, they simply don't make sense

When exactly would you like the deadwood to be paid off? And how can this be done without damaging the financial stability of the club?

Most players have at least another 30 weeks on their contracts and are therefore entitled to 30 weeks wages so very few if any would accept any less than that and who could blame them.?

For Example - If you want rid of 5 players at this stage (most people would want rid of more) and the 5 players earn 1k per week (most HUFC players earn more than that allegedlly) thats 150k plus you are paying probably in a lump some for the privilage of having a squad with 5 less players in it It really makes no sense as you would also have to fork out for replacements, the sensible thing to do was not to offer fringe players extended terms at the start of the season but its happened so we are stuck....

Short term there's probably not a huge amount of manovering that IOR or Danny Wilson can do presently however I believe that there are a lot of players contracts up in the summer so its possibly a case of making do until then. It sounds ok in theory or on Champ Manager to pay a few people off but in practice it is not a viable option........

I don't know about him but I demand at least eleven in a row like Danny achieved for Bristol in 2003/4!
