Free software to remove spyware???

I have downloaded a few bits of software lately to scan my pc for spyware and sure enough my pc is littered with trojans and the like.

I need some software to remove such spyware as opposed to simply telling me that my pc is infected. All the software which I have tried wants me to pay a fee in order to kill such spyware.

Surely there must be some totally free software out there?????

HELP!

Superantispyware 4.21 worked well for me

Get one of the PC mags that has a version of Spy Sweeper on the cover disc.

A gadgie who I work with and is obsessed with PCs recommends Avast, which is free.

AVG 8.0 will cover you for anti virus and anti spyware, there is a free version at the following web address.

AVG is a cracking product, granted version 8.0 is a bit on the bloated side, but it works very well and will update itself whenever you have an internet connection and there's an update available. I'd be suprised if AVG didn't clean your computer of spyware nastys.

After that, yes Spybot search and destroy is a good little package, again free, bit more unuserfriendly when it comes to updating it.

My third and final suggestion would be Adaware 2008 (http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-2008/3 ... d=10844457), another free program which will usually find stuff spybot doesn't.

Don't never ever pay for any program to do this sort of job, it's all a big con.

And in future (providing you have a legit copy of windows) use Windows Defender, it's free from Microsoft and updates itself automatically. I run AVGFree and Windows defender and have never had a virus or spyware issue.

Cheers for the tips fellas. I already have spybot but it does not pick up half of the problems that the trial version of 'stopzilla' does. Unfortunately stopzilla requires payment in order to allow the removal of these problems.
I got adaware but again it does not recognize a lot of spyware which apparently exist on my pc.

This is the only thing that worked for me when I had lots of trojans, it's a freeware download and must be worth a go.

AVG free does it for me (mind if you keep of the porn sites etc you might not have such a big problem) :wink:

Get firefox and install the adblockplus plugin for it. It gets rid of all popups and banner ads, if any slip though the net you can right click them and choose to block them in future.

Internet explorer is a nightmare for ads and popups so Firefox is the way forward

It's dynamic, free and very efficient. Run it once, do a defrag and then use it once a week for just 10 minutes and you can even leave your computer on whilst in the pub and you lass won't find all your Frankie. :wink:

I tried umpteen of these spyware programs but this was by far the best!!!

It only took 10 mins to do a quick scan of the c drive and it identified and deleted all that was suspicious.
