I actually thought he looked ok in the Swindon game but maybe it was a one-off. Maybe our 'coaching' has had an immediate impact and brought him down to our level

In the first half we were shite but we improved in second and deserved a point! Why o why did he bring Humbs and Monkhouse off?? We wer playing some good stuff and look a little bit threatening. No subs should off been made. Porter was MOTM He was fantastic again! Kyle needs to stop mouthing off at the the rest off the team and have a go at himself he was shocking!

I didn't, in fact I judged him at halftime by declaring "he's shite and will only get worse"

smug? no
fucking utterly pissed off

I have also never been a wilson fan and have voiced wilson out many times, I've kept schtum this season....he doesn't deserve any more second chances though now.

got to agree with chip. best players removed last night rubbish kyle stayed on - maybe that's why our lads don't seem committed - those that are get subbed.

This falling over problem seems to becoming a regular event. During pre match warm up don't they test foot wear - if the pitch has been watered (well and truely soaked last night) then longer studs required - and this isn't just an away problem . We need to get footwear sorted out.

PS Kyle's touch of genius as mentioned by chip (the fancy pirroette around the defender) was hilarious as well as embarrassing!! rolfl

Thanks Chip from what I heard on the radio both keepers never had anything to save in the second half. banghead

This falling over thingy has to be sorted.

what about the clown falling over when he was running to collect Humps throw in,
in the bottom corner, talking about going down in instalments.
To add insult the ball went out for a goal kick banghead

Agree with all coments there and i agree the footwear issue should be sorted as how many times did we lose possesion when someone slipped over

I thought Kyle would be a good signing and i was impressed with him against Swindon but he had a shocker yesterday and fluffed two goal certain headers in the 1st half

Defence never looked comfortable and another daft goal was conceded again... Why didnt Collins just stand him instead of sliding in (or did he slip over like most of our players did)

Overall i thought we played really well attacking wise and we created lots of good chances espicially going to the byline and pulling it back which happened about 5 times in the 2nd half and no-one was there to put it in, and i think we deserved at least a point but the defence continues to worry me again

Hey up Mr Chip, not a bad match report, thought you could have mentioned the 2 foul throws by Sweeney tho' that topped off the shambolic defence, (barring humps of course)
Thought you could have mentioned the covering tackle by Humps when he ran accross the edge of the box to cover a through ball that ALB came out too late for and kicked thin air.
Thought you could have mentiond Porters reluctance to just shoot when he's through on goal instead of insisting on trying to chip the keeper every time he was through on goal.
But all in all not a bad report

Loads of people view the game differently. Chip was sat just a few seats down from me, but picked up on lots of things that passed me by. It just makes me wonder how Wilson and Butterworth see it.

I hope they do all the video analysis the 'big' clubs are supposed to carry out - maybe then we'll sort the back four out away from home. banghead

I was listening to Northampton's commentary for a bit last night, no offence intended to Mark Simpson and Alan Power I was just getting sick of listening to the same old story, but they were impressed with Porter's touch and performance but said he was trying to be a bit too cute with his final pass or shot.

he was the best forward on the pitch, by some considerable distance,
their main striker (Akinfenwa) would not have looked out of place down the road
at the Northampton R.F.C ground.
Joel may have tried to do too much on occasions, but he had no choice, there was
nobody in a white shirt on the same wavelength as him, certainly not the overpaid,
overweight, overated tosspot in the number 34 shirt.

If he (Joel) is not offered a contract extension, then this club has no ambition

I was telling people that I didn't Kyle had the best of games against Swindon, he won a few headers and took a few knocks but that was about it. But I went on here and people were making him out to be one of our best players. Sometimes people go looking for the reason we signed a player when they join.

poolieoolie how come you always find a reason to have a pop at porter ? everyone on this board who was there said he was man of the match, everyone on our bus said he was man of the match, the northern echo said he was man of the match, i dont know about the mail cos i havent seen it but i bet they did too.

every fooker in the away end thought he was man of the match he was that far ahead of everyone else in a pools shirt. apart from you.

Whoops, sorry Mr Chip, didn't mean for you to get uptight, I never realised you had such a soft spot for Joel.
For the record I also thought he was man of the match, I didn't think I passed a comment on the MOM as it doesn't really interest me I'd rather we had the 3 points, all I was passing comment on was after all our good posession and opportunities we didn't have 1 shot on target all night.
Here's me praising your match report and you still have a go

Couldn't agree more Mr Chip. clappp (it's worrying)
Humps, Porter and Monkhouse were causing havoc every time they moved down the left hand side, either winning free kicks or getting dangerous balls into the box, and I can only think Danny Boy must have thought if Humps is creating so many opportunities then the pace of Robson will scare them to death, problem was he must have forgot to tell Matty the plan was to attack and not defend, cos Robson never got over the halfway line. banghead

we deserved at least a point against a very average northampton side. they shaded the first half but we were all over them in the second. once again we lost due to bad defending and poor finishing.

a mixed bag really. some very good performances, one superb performance and a couple of shocking performances.

alb 6 was exposed by some shocking defending for the goal which he got a hand to. then made a superb save from akinfenwa who was clean through while nelson and collins stood daydreaming. just before half time he rashly raced off his line to a ball he was never going to get to that nearly cost us a goal. was only tested once in the second half by an akinfewa shot he saved low down at his near post.

sweeney 7 spent most of the night defending. had little choice as nobody else wanted to. made 2 or 3 crucial last ditch challenges to bail his centre halves out.

collins 2. how is this bloke getting his game ? on his arse for the first goal which was yet again his fault, and spent the rest of the game in a fog. the quietest captain in england and even managed to fall over his own feet 3 yards out and miss the ball completely when set up with a chance by porter. gets worse by the week.

nelson 3. anyone else but nelson would look magnificent alongside collins. has now started taking free kicks. badly. one half of the worst centre back pairing in english football.

humps 6. id give him 4 for the first half when he was outpaced by his man and took 2 awful free kicks and a 7 or 8 for his brief cameo in the second. we were saying at half time how it was time for him to go, and then he played out of his skin for the first 20 of the second, linking up down the left with monky and porter and causing havoc. it was like the ritchie of 4 years ago. so good was he that wilson had to take him off.

brown 5. very good in the opening half an hour when he had good claims for a penalty and linked up well with porter to get in behind the town defence. put one on a plate for kyle who headed straight at the keeper. anonymous once again in the second half when pools attacked soley down the left. wasted out wide imho.

jones 5 did some good things, did some average things. got stuck in got booked not his best game not his worst.

clark 5 the game passed him by most of the night. i think his job was to protect the centre backs but you could see he just wanted to play centre back. has the pace we so desperately need back there. wilson must drop collins or nelson who are failing miserably and get big ben back in the heart of defence.

monky 7 some great runs but a disappointing end product. was causing havoc down the left with porter and humps. so wilson took him off. another bizarre substitution met with boos from the pools fans.

porter 8. easily pools best player, was taking on 2,3 or 4 northampton players at a time. set one up for monky who hit the side netting, for collins who fell over, and for kyle who blasted it straight back at him. the one time he was clean through their centre half wiped him out. amazingly the ref only produced yellow. everything good in an attacking sense from pools went through him ( and before i get accused of bias someone else has already given him a 9, and all 21 people on the supporters bus gave him man of the match )

kyle 0. the white marcus richardson. it was bambi on ice 2. this man is allegedly being paid in excess of 400k a year to play football. on tonights performance he wouldnt get a game on the rec. stood around barking orders at everyone. he cant run and he cant jump. at one point in the second half attempted some weird cruyuff turn which ended up with him backheeling the ball to their right back and spinning round until he almost fell over. embarrasingly bad. how he lasted the 90 minutes is anyones guess. the entire away end was calling for him to be taken off, and their fans were calling for him to stay on. the only time he ran all night was to get off the pitch at the final whistle. possibly the worst performance by a pools striker i have ever seen. comfortably a million times worse than barker. the only positive contibution he made was when he fell on a prostrate northampton player and injured him.

robson 3 hardly touched the ball.

mckay 3 fell over twice and committed a foul. er thats it.

the ref 0 was abused by both sets of fans at the same time during the second half. utter garbage.

the away fans 5. only 245 at the game and there was hardly any singing or atmosphere. after the goal a resigned silence ensued. we were briefly animated during the second half barrage on their goal, but accepted our fate after the substitutions. dont think pools even went into the northampton half in the 4 minutes of added time. only really entertaining moment came when the pa announcer said " can brandon hornby make himself known to a steward " and i stood up and shouted " i am brandon hornby " followed by many others doing the same in an " i am spartacus" stylee.

northampton 2. on this display a bottom 8 team.

wilson 3. and now the end is near, the little man faces, the final curtain. poor danny, the end is nigh. its a bit like when me grandad had cancer on ward 11 and they gave him morphine to spirit him away. theres no life in him that i can see. can pools win at walsall and save his job ? on this showing probably not. in 8 days time we could be in the bottom 4 and surely the axe will fall. took 2 of the better players off and left the passengers on. if kyle has another game like tonights hodcroft will surely do us all a favour and sack him on the basis that he hasnt got a fooking clue.

absolutely 100% correct.
I've never known anything to dawn on me so much as the fact that Wilson HAS to go before we even play Walsall.
How can it be an impossible task for any League One side to go and win at Walsall? Believe it people, with this manager and the current "beaten when they step on the bus" attitude of this bunch of players, we might as well be travelling to Old Trafford - because quite simply this team already has its one and only away victory this season.
Unless of course, the club brings in an inspirational manager.
Put it this way, in a head to head relegation battle against someone like Cheltenham, Pools are going to lose purely on the basis of who is manager.
Give me Mad Dog Allen over Wilson anyday.
