. . . although as I'm not in Hartlepool I didn't have as far to go. I don't know what the commentary said but it was a very scrappy game.
I'm afraid Kyle was an embarrassment and we'd have been no worse off with Barker in the side and I would argue better off with Barker as he could have held the ball up allowing others to get into better positions. Kyle’s first half chances were wide or straight at their keeper, who looked like he could be suspect, his kicking certainly was.
Porter had some good runs but Brown was out of the game for long periods, stranded on the right wing.
A couple of good runs by Humphreys resulting in decent crosses were rewarded by him being subbed - I thought he was looking our main threat - obviously Wilson did not agree (I guess Mr I would have agreed with Wilson). We'd been looking strong down the left with Monkhouse also playing as well as anyone else so it was no surprise that he was subbed as well.
The defence didn't look particularly strong in the centre, especially considering we had 3 centre halves on the pitch, however they only let in the one which I put down to Northampton’s inadequacy.
Sweeney did all right at right back & better than McCunnie of late, however I don't think he's the answer in that position.
I'm not a great fan of ALB but he did make one good save with his feet when a Northampton forward was clean through, he saved a couple of more on target shots but they were tame.
I didn't think much of Jones and thought he could have been subbed instead of the other 2.
Considering the amount of money Kyle gets paid (rumoured to be £400,000 / year) his performance was very disappointing. I don’t know how much Stevie Howard is on but Howard is in a different class to Kyle.

On this performance 2 poor teams who will struggle at the wrong end of the division unless they start playing with greater skill and commitment – I don’t care about Northampton but Pools must start to play with greater belief and play to their strengths by using Brown, Monkhouse & Porter to greater effect.

On the Bunker watch I saw the Parmo’s, POK, PIN and Chip – which sounds like some new credit card.

You can't have seen Parmo, he doesn't 'do' away matches anymore does he?

Maybe he does now that he doesn't have the pressures of 'Landlording' anymore.
