Pease pudding is fucking awful, as are Morrells pork pies, you might as well eat the foul shite with faggots and offal on toast

I agree, had a Ham and Pease Pudding Roll at the Old Mill House the first time I went to Hartlepool - most vilest thing I have ever tasted !

To believe that evey person who is born south of the Watford Gap eats Jellied Eels etc is just a plain sterotype.

I wasn't born in London, I was born in Kent - there is a differenceas we don't all go around eeting jellied eels or cockles.

This is Gillingham, not Southend-on-Sea !

Never heard of Margate the home of the jellied eel and other southern seaside delicacies? Good job you're doing french and not geography.

I love pease pudding. You can get the tinned stuff in supermarkets down here so someone apart from me must buy it.....

As for PoK's laughable assertion that not everyone in the south east eats jellied eels and pie and mash, I'm speechless. In 22 years of living down here everyone who originates from the south east that I've ever met does* so he must be an exception.

They certainly know how to live down here! rolfl

* - For the record, that includes people from Gillingham and other parts of Kent.

No no I haven't admitted defeat - I've only just seen your post.

I've been to Margate a few times and not once of I seen somebody from Kent eat any of that.

Fish and Chips, yeah. Jellied Eels - maybe only Londoners on day trips to the Costa del Kent.

Yeah, cause you're in East London so there all Cockneys but here in Medway and North Kent, nobody hardly eats anything like that because most of us aren't Cockneys.

The major things that Kent is famous for gastronomically is it's hops and beer locally produced in the Shepherd Neame brewery of Faversham or the famous oysters of Whitstable, that Julius Caesar loved so much he'd import them back to Rome.

I was once in that Walter Willson's near the Catcote when there was the most blood-curdling scream. Turned out one of the girls had half-fallen into a great pan of pease pudding that was cooking on the stove at the back.
Never felt the same about pease pudding after that

I haven't always lived in East London! I used to live in Muswell Hill. Anyway I've done an extensive survey with graphs and shit and the conclusion says, "A high percentage of people from south east England like eels, pie and mash and "seafood" various." So there we are, evidence-based!

The tinned stuff is rank!!!! confised confised

Me Mam makes her own and it's piss/pease easy so give it a go....

Get a huge pan and 3/4 fill with Dried Yellow Split Peas and soak in water for 24 hours....

Then boil the peas and drain off the water....

This is the best bit....

Add chunks of Fresh Cooked Ham and then mash!!!! :coool: :coool:
