some people on Rivals are in a time warp - official!! The likes of Mister B, aido and a few others just can't or won't admit Pools are $-hite!! They jump down the throats of anyone who speaks the truth about certain players or the management or both!! At least one of them must have been Neville Chamberlain in a previous life, " Ah Hitler's alright, he won't invade the Sudeten land or Poland or anything, or place munitions in the Rhineland or nowt like that man."
Their new incarnation says," I mean Wilson is the best manager this club has had, Scott was before him as well and Jon Daly gets 10/10 week in week out so he does," etc etc.
FFS WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!! banghead banghead banghead banghead banghead banghead banghead banghead banghead banghead banghead banghead banghead banghead banghead banghead banghead banghead
Bob Moncur and Mick Tait would never have been sacked if everybody was happy with mediocrity, some folk can't get their heads around the fact that sometimes changes need to be made fast before things get out of control. Things are getting that way, because January transfer window will determine whether we have a chance of rescuing this awful f****King season. It might even decide whether we will stay clear of trouble if we are not careful between now and then - and who's to say we won't be in murky waters by the end of the year?
SORT IT OUT POOLS PLAYERS AND MANAGEMENT, YOU ARE PERFORMING LIKE A BUNCH OF AR$E-HOLES!!!!!!!!

I still have faith in Wilson although I hesitate to contradict the bloke who first seriously predicted our relegation last season.

January is crucial as it gives him the opportunity to off load some of the freeloaders and ne'er do wells. I maintain that we need a big clear out of the players who were here long before Wilson was appointed.

I'm afraid that we may well be condemned to consolidation this season with a clear out in the summer. Either way, you can't polish a turd and danny Wilson didn't drop the log, he's just left with the pledge and duster.

spot on Mr I, I think it's only fair he gets a chance to bring in his own men -BUT (and it's a big but) I would personally swap Wilson for Sturrock regardless. Poll: Who would rather have Sturrock as boss right now regardless?

I wouldn't have Sturrock at this point as I remain to be convinced that he's a good manager. Don't forget the majority of the team that took Sheff Wed up were signed by Turner, and this season they've been pretty awful after not pulling up too many trees last time. Yes, his hands were tied somewhat due to their financial problems but he's hardly the only one to have been in that situation and others have done far better.

January makes or breaks this season for Pools, but there are reasons I won't be getting my hopes up yet. Mainly that I suspect we still need to get some players off the wage bill to provide headroom, and that means we need takers for them. Partly also that it's not exactly easy to get a 20 goal a season striker at the best of times as they're always in demand....

IOR were lucky when they appointed Chris Turner in 1999, he turned out to be a good manager for Pools and set the club up for many years of good results. They appointed Newell, who they must have seen something in, because he eventually turned out to be a very good football manager. Then Cooper, the best appointment the club has ever made alongside appointing Sir Cyril.
However, IOR have since shown they can get it drastically wrong (i.e. almost EVERYTHING that the club has done in the past eighteen months). Hopefully they will have learned Chip, that what you proposed in those circumstances was indeed the correct thing to do - should it ever be needed again for future reference. However that would mean we'll probably have been relegated to the Conference!!!

the clearout should have been done last season.

That's not what most people on this board thought before the start of this season though is it?
The current of opinion was the squad is more than good enough to go straight back up but it was perhaps a bit of a waste of time giving all those youths contracts. Now people are saying they want rid of seasoned professionals like Eifo who have been decent servants to the club.

There's no point harping on about what might have been. Let's just hope we can string one or two decent results together while seeing what January brings.

Martin Allen has already issued his transfer list for January. It's a good move in one respect in that it gets the advertising in early, but the listed players are hardly going to be motivated for the remaining two months are they.
Pools haven't yet issued a list but let's hope they at least have one prepared.

stands.

if the story in the mail yesterday is true, and wilson genuinely feels bringing boyd back on loan would be like going back to square one i think thats a pretty big slap in the face for the fans. by suggesting we would be going backwards by signing a player with the 2nd best goals to games ratio in the clubs history, and recreating one of the most prolific strike partnerships ( boyd and porter) in the clubs history, he is inferring that since boyd left we have been going forwards.

we are in the bottom half of the table, have just drawn at home in the game most fans were desperate for us to win, and have been dumped out of the one competition we had a chance of winning. if he considers signing boyd a backwards step then perhaps he might want to share with us his thoughts on what forward steps he is planning.

Boyd still isn't fit, the "back to square one" comment was regarding his fitness.
