Please let this rumour be true

I was thinking the other day about our lack of striking options. Why dont we try playing Matty Robson up front? He always looks useful going forward and it would remove his defensive responsibilities. Ok, so we would not have much aerial presence but with the ball on the deck he could do a job

It was recently revealed Barker cost 100K. I can't see us letting him go cheap.

If he is going I reckon it would be pretty much nailed we have a replacement lined up, rumour has it he would have gone to Stockport as part of the Elding deal had he not stupidly chosen Leeds.

If he is going he will go down as someone who has done a great job for Pools.

i said exactly the same thing at the newcastle match. he scares defenders when he runs at them but when he plays out wide they dont really bother going at him because he doesnt do anything with the ball. when he runs into the box the defenders look scared and back off. i think it would be a really good move. it looks like he is a better striker and foley is a better winger, they might as well just swap over

Someone on the BBC 606 thread has a very different opinion to you...

Quote:
if that materialises im gonna chuck my season ticket away. Barker has been very consistent over the past one and a half seasons for pools and some of our fans forget what he has actually achieved for our football club. i'll never forget his diving header at wycombe that got us promotion. if barker goes so do i as that really would show the club has no ambition.

Matty Robson up front rolfl rolfl rolfl rolfl rolfl rolfl rolfl rolfl rolfl rolfl rolfl

To play up front you have to be able to play with your back to goal, playing him up front would mean him getting the ball in less situations when he is facing goal with space to run into.

Even Martin (I've played Gavin Strachan on the left wing more than once) Scott wouldn't be that ridiculous.

he could learn to be a proper striker, im not saying he's there yet but he could be. in my opinion he has the potential to be better there than on the wing

He's been learning to be a proper winger for five years now and still hasn't succeeded!

What next, turning cockfingers into a full back?

Why don't we just sign some players who play in the positions we need to strengthen so we don't have to resort to trying to find some square pegs to fill our round holes?

Perhaps it may be best if he 'learns' to play in the position he is meant to play..... I know, just a crazy, wacky, left of field idea like.....
