Ah great...

The amount of friggin times I've been asked if I "know those Darwins" by people...

They must think we all live within two streets of one another and have a communal toilet.

Speaking of trials, there's an obituary in the Grauniad to-day of Ruth Greenglass who was a witness in something called the Rosenberg atomic secrets spy trial of 1951. Apparently a communist, she was herself involved in the espionage, but in return for immunity from prosecution, turned un her 'comrades' including her sister-in-law who was later found to be entirely innocent and who was as a result of the trial sent to the Chair.

Another of the random little possibilities that attends state-sponsored execution

I stand corrected.

The Honourable Gentleman is quite right - although I do not know what the purpose of correcting me on a slight mistake was.
