Hard to believe that and Golden Brown came from the same group.

I read that quickly as: Hard to believe that and Gordon Brown came from the same group.

It's true I have no proof other than seeing the band in their early days before they had a recording deal. The first time being the support act for the Pink Fairies at the Marquee in Wardour Street. I remember at another gig they (the Stranglers) did a Beach Boys number Fun Fun Fun as an encore - can't imagine Gordon Brown singing anything about fun. Although I can just imagine him singing the more morbid Golden Brown, a song not about sugar but heroin.
No, I see Mr. Brown more as a dark figure in a (Scottish) band such as the Robin Guthrie figure of the Cocteau Twins.

I think that when Mr ADG went to close his stable door he had already left.

Does that help?

Mr Ed went to Thailand some months ago and underwent a sex change. He is now working in Bangkok as a ladyboy. He'll be back in the near future though because he's not getting much work out there. He's just trying to find some flexible glue.

Am I in a minority because I always theought Golden Brown to be a VERY weak effort by The Stranglers, it's probably my least favourite Stranglers 45 to be honest.

Errrrrrr.......no, I was indeed implying it was crap, as you'd expect with the present PM guesting.

supporting the Pink Fairies? I bet that was a good night!!! I wish I was 10 years older sometimes, I've seen a lot of good bands, but largely at the end of their life cycle. 1967 - 1979 was a rich dozen years of legendary bands and great music for me - the 80's pretty much killed my enthusiasm for music, with one or two exceptions.
