Which uni are you going to in Liverpool then Mr Kentish. As you probably know you've got a choice of three, Liverpool, Liverpool John Moores and Liverpool Hope. From my ancient observations there's a good student based music scene around the City Centre and I'm sure you'll have a good time.

Strange thing in Liverpool is that I always found it safe on the basis that there's not as much gratuitous violence as you might imagine. Any trouble tends to be associated with 'business' and if you get into trouble it's serious, like getting shot I mean. Careful with those hubcaps though.

We're out in the sticks but have a view of the two cathedrals from the top of the hill. I noticed your earlier request for NW away game company but you wouldn't want to go to games with an old git like me.

It should be The University of Liverpool (the largest one) that I'll be going to - Hope and John Moores is where the C/D/U students probably go.

And thanks for the information on the city. I'm not an ordinary teenager in that I don't go clubbing that often, but thanks anyway, it'll come in useful.

Frodraff, I don't mind going with anyone - I don't discriminate - as long as they want me to go with them. I would be willing to go to the away games with you, I'm cool about it as they say.

Before you embark on such a plan, young KP, you should understand that the last time our kid saw a Pools win was Watty Moores debut........... :roll:

We only got the penalty shoot out at Tranmere because he went for a protracted gypsys..... :grin:

West Derby is not far from Croxteth, to the extent that the parliamentary constituency covers both areas... in fact I think the set was not far away at all from the bit of West Derby generally referred to as Deysbrook. Liverpool's Training Ground is also in the vicinity.

As I've said before, one of the ironies of the Rhys Jones affair was that where he was shot is supposed to be the nice end of Croxteth - the Country Park Estate, all private houses built about 10 years back. There was a BBC Website piece shortly after that seemed to indicate that Croxteth was a terrified place swarming with police on every corner - not in my bit they weren't, took about 3 days before we saw any signs of an increased presence. Guess where some of the ones arrested for it are from? Yes, the end I live in, which is again back to sporadic patrols unless they're raiding a house for someone else connected with the Rhys Jones case. (It's a bit of a downer when you discover your road is in the news because one of those charged with assisting the shooter lives in it.) I don't want to say that the Rhys Jones murder was anything other than tragic, unnecessary and downright evil - but if there had been as much interest in the gang warfare six months previous, maybe it would never have happened. Unfortunately as there seemed to be less interest when they were "only" (ahem) killing each other, it took an innocent to be caught in the crossfire for any real action to be taken. The link below shows it had been a problem for some time beforehand.
