..the net result is still the same - only half.

I won't get on the "Wilson out" bandwagon at the moment as I think his hands have been tied too much over signings, but the sad fact is that as things stand the best we can hope for is scrapping around and hoping to get into the playoffs. I don't thing we're going down or anything, but that is a disappointment and there's no disguising it.

Some of Wilson's selections are concerning, especially when it comes to the midfield. Bullock was poor to say the least on Friday, not for the first time this season either - ok so Sweeney is out but I'd have preferred to see a Liddle/Strachan partnership in the centre as at least we would have held onto the ball more. Foley ran his socks off on the right wing but would have been better employed up front - was he really the best option available?

Brackstone was hopeless but if we're playing 4-4-2 Wilson is very short of options on the left - once Robson went off he either had to stick Brackstone there or put on someone like Strachan on and move Liddle back which is IMO a waste of his talents. It's a problem we've had for years and no manager has solved it. Similarly right wing, where we've played a succession of players who are either out of position, not that impressive, or both.

We may be limited by who we have available and some sharp work will be required come January but in the meantime Wilson has to make the best of what he's got - I still think that at the moment this means 3-5-2. Stick Barron in alongside Nelson and Clark - it used to be his best position in any case - WilliamsD right wingback, Humphreys left, and then have Boland/Strachan to hold, Liddle to pull the strings and then Sweeney (when fit) or maybe even Porter to burst forward to support the attack (I'd be tempted to have Daly and Foley up front at the moment). We still lack depth on the flanks (wingers and defenders) so that would reduce the requirement for the moment.....
