If anyone knows owt about creating your own webiste and e-mail can you give me some advice please cos I'm obviously thick.
I've bought my website off 123-reg.co.uk
and now I want to buy an e-mail address to go alongside it.
Do I need to buy POP3 first? (whatever the fuck that is)
And then do I need to configure POP3 to either outlook express or thunderbird?
Everytime I try to buy an e-mail address it just links me back to domain names - including the one I bought off them. I've been through the help section on the 123-reg website but dont really understand what any of it means.
It should be simple sctatchinghead
Or is that me?

Ok, from the beginning.

You've registered the URL (web address) and thats fine but did you buy any hosting facility with it?

Pop3 is the email handling system.
Normally you would expect at the very least five free email addresses with your hosting.

So in simple terms:

You buy the url
Then you need somewhere to host your site or email server
Then you configure your email addresses but on the hosting server and on your computer.

Hmmm...I'm off to check, thanks for getting back so quickly.
I got a webpage only with the url. Was going to upgrade it so will have a look and see if that comes with free e-mail. Unsure as its all very cheap and so I think you may have to pay separately.
Would have had a bunker one but I need the address to reflect my website

If you not going to host anything complicated, I can give you some hosting space for nowt.

Same story here, we can host websites on the bunker. I was coming to that once you had confirmed or denied that you had already paid someone.

I've got a few website templates made up if you wanna use them for your site, Would be a shame to have WebSpace with just a standard template, Go for the swanky look

Just a tip: Don't use fasthosts (who are affiliated with reg123) as they lock you out of your account due to a security leak of users information. Then if you can't get into your website and you don't update your new expiry date on your credit card because you can't then they will fine you £20.

Happened to a lot of people: http://www.fasthostshell.co.uk/
