Dr Alexander Densmore, of the institute of hazard and risk research at Durham University, said: "It's quite rare that these very large earthquakes occur on land and it's particularly rare that they occur in densely populated areas. This is an extraordinary event."
Maybe so; nonethless four of the most deadly earthquakes in history have been in China, three of them in the last 80 years. The country really is blighted, the same way Burma and Bangladesh are by Cyclones or East Africa by famine. Some people really have no luck.

But a guy I was speaking to in the pub the other day would have none of that. He said it's their fault for living there. He even argued it was part of natural selection. stpid stpid

Surely no one on this board is that callous?

you dont need help if your dead. And 100,000 are dead.

I dont see how you can select who you feel most sorry for.

its not selecting who i feel sorry for. As a human i have feelings, its a bad world we live in, some get it worse than others.

some dont get it at all!!!
