But but but, that's the tartan army, the self style friendliest football fans in the world.

Euro 2008 will now be chuffed that Scotland didn't qualify. They are already chuffed that England didn't!

I thought it was very respectful for a significant portion of them to wear the union flag when visiting England. Far better than that saltire thing. bbolt

The BBC did an amazing job of filming the violence. That video had me shitting in my pants.

That clip on the bbc site shows one busy on the floor with, I'd guess, around 15-20 Rangers fans kicking the shi'ite out of him. The other polis were long gone and showed no sign of helping out!
He's a brave fella, or a daft one to try hold back that many when his mates were leggin it.
Sums up majority of footy hooligans tough, when they easily outnumber the opposition they'll get stuck in, if they were in the minority they'd shout some naughty words and keep they're distance.
Look at the Russian that was stabbed...in the back! Says it all for me.

Near the ground there was one Rangers fan looking for trouble and sparked out a Russian, though it has to be said that was the only trouble I actually saw. There was also a Scots girl at the train station covered in blood. She had been hit by a bottle someone threw at Piccaddilly Gardens when the screen didn't come back on.

It is true about the "Tartan Army", the media don't exactly portray them in a totally true light. The majority of Scottish fans are excellent, just like the majority of English fans are (I admit that England have more trouble makers, but then they have more people travelling) but the media like to portray either side in complete contrast.

It said on the news that he got away with just a broken arm, he's a very lucky man with all of them kicking the cr@p out of him.

Heard a few Scottish fans on the radio this afternoon and they were saying the problem is that Rangers fans aren't Scottish enough, they're ....too English in their outlook.... If the English didn't exist, they'd have to invent us to give them something to rest their chip on.

Read the BBC report right to the end- one Rangers fan claims that people had spent £5,000 to "come down here"! I'm off to Glasgow to start a bus company with fares starting at £4,980 above whatever National Express charge.

They estimated up to 200,000 rangers fans where in Manchester, the chances of a minority of them to cause trouble is very high

Every team has idiots who jump on the bandwagon and are hell bent on causing trouble, i have been to Rangers several times and found the fans to be good kind people and very welcoming

I have also been all over Europe to watch England play, even to hell holes like Albania and you come across fans like that where ever you go

I'll have to stick up for our lass here, as she is Glaswegian. Whilst it was all kicking off in Manchester, she was knocking zeds out on the couch. The closest she came to causing damage was almost knocking her cup over when she woke up.

Every team has its arseholes. Every town/city/country has its fair share of people with chips on their shoulders, including Hartlepool.

The vast majority of Jocks I've met are sound, and they have more in common with north-easterners than most other people from British 'regions'. I've said it before, but I would much rather go out for a pint in Scotland with jocks, than in London with cockernees, Liverpool with scousers etc.

I've not met a Jock who didn't have a big opinion of himself.

I agree with you PIN i would certainly go out for a drink there than in London. In fact any where down south. Mind you the people in Edinburgh are a different breed to those in Glasgow.

It's the same where ever you go... some people are sound, some people are arseholes. I've never had any bother in 4 years living in Pompey but I lived in Aberdeen for a year and got some serious stick at times for being English.
