You know that funny egg chasing game, how does the extra time work in that? There's like a hooter thingy isn't there at the end of the game and everybody knows when the final hooter is going to be, they count down, has nothing to do with the ref.

Do they even have injury time? Does that mean they can legally waste time?

I think its the same as in rugby union where they have a set 40 minutes and whenever there is a break in play for injuries or substitutions the ref calls for the clock to be stopped and restarts it when the stoppage is over. Hence the clock is there for all to see. It won't happen in footie cos Ken Bates would never allow it

They can waste a hundred years if they like but the match isn't over until the ball goes out of play (it might be a bit more complicated than that but that's the general gist).
Once the hooter goes the challenge therefore becomes one where the winning team is trying to get it out of play before the losing team strikes back.
