The emotions of the second leg though were horrendous. The penalty shoot out - from feeling so awful to absolute joy. Those were the days...

"hearing the old cliche about 2-0 being a dangerous lead"

That was mentioned last night. The other commentator said something like "give me a 2-0 lead any day"

My main memory of Tranmere is feeling shredded for almost the whole of the second leg. Can't remember ever feeling so tense at a football match. It was awful watching wave after wave of Tranmere attacks, and hearing the old cliche about 2-0 being a dangerous lead. It was a horrible night with a fantastic feeling of joyful relief at the end.

By the way, it's also the anniversary today of the first leg of the playoff semi at Blackpool - an altogether different experience. Piss poor

Oh shiit. I watched that on the big screen at the vic.

It was absolutely shocking. We got hammered.

I went to Blackpool, it was a dismal performance, I was only cheered up by the Major dressed as a monkey fighting over a blow up doll with a load of 12 year old kids!

We were awful at Tranmere.

Looking back now you can see how tactically poor Scotty was, an injury to to Micky Barron, everyone in the whole ground would have moved Westwood to right back and put Ben Clark on at centre back, but noooooooooooooo not Barry Chuckle, on comes Tinkler instead, who is not a centre back and rightfully has a stinker.

The relief at the end of winning the penalities was amazing, deserved not.

And McAteer coming off crying too

And Martin Scott stole our flag that night, git!

2 out of 3 play off games that have happened on 13/5 have been mentioned on this thread. I'm stumped why the third hasn't been!

Or perhaps Scotty should have left Westwood where he was and put Clark to right-back? Just a thought like.
