2 Hartlepool lads at left and right back for Carisle Paul Arnison and Evan Horwood.

It's quite ironic in a time when Pools don't really have a recognised full back the town itself appears to be some sort of full back factory with Carlisle's two and we the two Hartlepool lad's playing in the Premiership yesterday one scoring!

What is Carlisle's away support all about by the way? I'm amazed by the lack of numbers. The standard of the game is light years ahead of the league two ties, maybe we lost a bit of perspective to how big the jump up is?

I tell you what the referee has made a massive call in the last minute in favour of Leeds.

How Hughes isn't sent off for violent conduct is beyond me, he clearly aimed a kick at Horwood, then while Horwood is still off receiving treatment Freedman scores.

Story of Leeds season unimpressive but they play until the last whistle and a late goal has kept them in it. How many last minute goals is that?

Arno was booked for time wasting, a couple of of subs and the bit of 'toe to toe' when the ref deemed Hughes trying to boot Horwood in the head as a yellow card offence then the goal so I think on the face of things 97 minutes was about right. The injustice was Carlisle had ten men on the pitch when it should have been Leeds.

Until Carlisle decided to close it down, this was by far the best match I've seen for a long time, and I'm not just talking about the play offs.

I only saw the second half and to be honest I thought the ref had a good game, Leeds appealed everything but he remained firm.

However if it had been a Carlisle player lash out like that I am positive he would have got a red card and there should never have been that much injury time.

On the news this morning it's been 'Leeds give themselves a lifeline' etc. I could have sworn they lost 2-1 in a home leg and now have to a team that have been invincible at home for the last 5 months. sctatchinghead

Hughes should definitely have been sent off - I think his boot made contact woth Horwoods head three times and then he had the nerve to rant at him for play acting. God knows what Drogba would have done if he had received that treatment!

I thought Leeds were totally lacking in ideas but they have got a possible lifeline now I guess.

By the way was that another Poolie reject playing for Carlisle - Chris Lumsdon?

I thought Carlisle were excellent, made Leeds look very ordinary.

Can anyone argue that adding Danny Graham, Evan Horwood and Paul Arnison to our squad would make us play off contenders next season?

No. But why would they want to come here for less money and potentially a lower division?

I never said they would, or we could afford to get them.

But they are three players that we have been linked to in the last 12 months, and as usually some people make conclusions before even seeing a player.

Agreed - the quality of the football surprised be and it was a superb advert for League One....although it's been a little while since I've seen pools play that kind of football...

How does that work then?

The board indicates a minimum of.....More time added on if time is wasted in the added time.

They're electric, run off batteries. You press the little buttony things to say what you want it to say, like substitutes numbers and the players numbers who's coming off, and added time, and like 'can ADG's kids go to the pie stall and grease your Dad down as we can't squeeze him through the door and the bewers don't want to touch him,' and then when you press the switch it lights up.

Hope that helps.

i heartily concur with most of what's been said.

a) carlisle were excellent, and it was ironic that they had a few poolie rejects or snubbed transfer targets playing for them.

b) l**ds were at their snarling arrogant worst, while still being by far and away second best to a carlisle team without a win in five games.

c) how that fookwit Hughes stayed on the pitch after clouting horwood at least twice then screaming in his face. refred and the same for kilkenny running 30 yards to accuse horwood of hamming it up. unbelievable.

d) arno booked for timewasting after a leeds player had halved garner and got a slap on the wrist

e) four becomes seven at elland road and hughes refred plays a pivotal part in the goal.

IF THERE IS ANY JUSTICE IN THE WORLD, the second leg will be a bore draw for 80 mins with Carlisle sneaking another one in injury time. and ken bates will keel over face down in a puddle of piss after threatening to sue the ref and the league, and people will just step on him on the way out.
