LEGAL history was made at The Woodchopper yesterday when Bunkerites became the first people ever to be arrested for dancing dressed as monkeys. The un-attractive, a 4 former stars of the Monkey-Hangerz from Hartlepool, went one step too far when they performed at The Bunkers end of season party on Friday night.

"There's nothing like a bit of nice dancing to get everyone in a happy mood," said Mr Parmo, the head of The Woodchopper Security. "And this was nothing like a bit of nice dancing! It was more like screeching and went on for more than half-an-hour. By the end, we had members of the public complaining of bleeding eardrums. We tried reasoning with but, in the end, it was useless. We had no option but to throw him into a cell."

There was no suggestion that anything untoward was going on when Bunkerites arrived at The Woodchopper Friday evening. However, things started to go awry when they refused to leave the bar until they had tried a sample of every variety available. One hour later, and they were staggering around with a massive smile on their faces. The event organisers suspected they might be in for a bit of trouble when Bunkerites burst into the DJ booth and grabbed all the 7" vinyl’s shouting: "Lets put on Jonny Reggae."

Nevertheless, nothing could have prepared anyone for what the 4 were going to do next. Bursting into the main reception of The Woodchopper, all dressed in monkey suits, they started to perform the river dance in a lewd manner!

Switching on the microphone, Bunkerites yelled, "Let me entertain you," before proceeding to sing a medley of 70's greatest hits. "It was awful," said Mrs Parmo, the landlady who found herself trapped between a speaker and a banana vendor. "People were panicking and I just couldn't get out, they sounded like a tormented, drunken cats."

The embarrassed Bunkerites were eventually arrested after armed officers broke into the woodchopper. The Bunkerites have expressed no remorse for their crime and intend to plead 'Not Guilty' to a charge of breaching the peace and Lewd Acts when they appear at Hartlepool Court tomorrow.
