Just seen Ritchie got player of the century, I can't believe it of all the great footballers we've had in 100 years of football we give this prestige's award to a player who arguably has had only 3 good seasons in 7

As you can tell I'm not Ritchie's biggest supporter I think he is very much over rated and if we are honest he is a good 2nd division footballer who has been lucky with injuries - I'm sure he is a great guy blah blah but is he really the best footballer of the century?

I must say, even though I voted for RH as palyer of the season, I'm a bit astonished that he has wn player of the century. He must have been a bit embarrassed picking that up. A lot of people must only have very short term memories or they have only been going for the last 5 or so years.

Just a few players more deserving of that award would be Bob Newton, Rob McKinnon, Paul Dalton, Wattie Moore, Ernie Phythian and Kenny Johnson...

I'm happy for Humps winning such an award, what Irks me though is that people deemed him player of the year this year. He is never a left back and is passed more than the dutchie on the left hand side. He is a loyal player and a top bloke to boot but POTY?

Yeah he will have missed him out because he was sh*t.

I have no problem with you whatsover apart from a few things:

1) You feel the need to over-do this negativity towards Ritchie. No-one has said he is bobbins, me included but you like Obafemi and the other rose tinted brigade on here have turned this into a love/hate scenario when there isnt one! I like many others feel that Ritchie is an 'ok' player but to crown him player of the century is ridiculous. Player of the season, possibly but 'century' . Nobody HATES him, it is people like you who are stirring the shit

2) Effion should never in a million years be considered a contestant for player of the century. I you honestly beleive that then my use of the smily is appropriate!

3) In the other thread where I used the smiley towards one of your posts you have declared that Ritchie is the "greatest Pools player" EVER. If you are seriously telling me that he is the best player to have ever donned a pools shirt then again I would argue that I was right to use the smiley. I could name 20 players who were better than Humps
