It was the right result, but could so easily have turned into a home decision.
I think any British fighter going to the states should object to Joe Cortez in future too.

He allowed Hopkins to spoil all the way yet wouldnt allow Hatton to fight on the inside against Mayweather.
When Roy Jones was top of the light heavy/super middle divisions he wouldnt give Calzaghe a shot but now he is on the comeback trail & he needs the big fight, leave him out of it.
Kelly Pavlik was mentioned last night, that would probably turn out to be an action packed scrap, but Pavlik is nowhere near Calzaghes quality and is only a middleweight too
I think the best fight for Calzaghe now is Tarver assuming that he will be staying at light heavyweight.

If he does fight Jones I hope he retires afterwards,Roy Jones is an exhibition bout now rather than a real title fight.
Audrey was his own worst enemy,he carried on as though he was the greates from the moment he turned pro.He definetely had the talent & if he had learnt his trade properly instead of thinking he knew it all he may well have made it to world class instead of peaking at British title level.

The BBC report on the match seems to insinuate the Welsh man can count himself lucky and should thank judge Chuck Giampa for only giving Hopkins three rounds. It would appear Calzaghe did a lot of work but his opponent did all the serious punching.

Never saw it myself like.

no hopkins just sat on the ropes (not literally) and complained a lot and let joe take the fight to him
a bit of effort on his behalf and the result may have been different
