Just been to the bookies before going to the junior game and a lad that was always in there was standing outside he asked me to get him a footie coupon as he never goes inside personally any more.

He is getting back on track now but my god that is some amount of money to gamble.

You haven't got a chancewhen you are taking on machines. Many compulsive gamblers don't think logically though. I've known people who get paid on a thursday and just can't keep themselves out of the bookies, or off fruit machines, they are always skint by the weekend and on on the bones of their arses the following week until the same cycle repeats itself.....

Scary things those, I've known people who've lost thousands of pounds in half an hour on them.

For people severely addicted to gambling there are two types of money: the sort you spend and the sort you bet with. If they win a jackpot they never think of putting it into the bank or going shopping with it because these are gambling pounds, not living pounds.
By the same philosophy, when they get into debt because of gambling it's not like a real money debt to them, so they have no fear of being ruined. It's like Monopoly money.
