Deffo. Been meaning to join a club for ages. Hartlepool train on a Sunday morning and Seaton train on a Friday night. 2 absolutely awful times for me!

You would have 5 willing spectators from Billingham. With the possibility of 1 participant.

I'd be interested but I haven't played any sort of cricket for years, so I would probably be worse than rubbish as I was rubbish when I did play a bit......

Never played cricket & have no intentions of starting,I honestly think its the start of the slippery descent towards golf.

If you are not playing against them i will play.
Not a great batter but OK bowler & good fielder

well i have, in the 70's, but only where the wickets were chalked on a wall or a dustbin lid was used.

In that case, I'm all for more cricket threads on the bunker as it would give me an opportunity to discount peoples opinion who haven't played at as a responsible level as myself.

I'd be well up for that :sweeeet:

Looks like I've missed the boat but if some of the first XI are unavailable then I'd love a game. I last played on Seaton's field of dreams in the all important English Martyrs v Brierton staff game 2 years ago returning the unlikely figures of O2 M2 R0 W2.

Maybe the long summer afternoon getting my bowling tw*tted all over Ritchie's field weren't wasted!

and how far would one have to travel like?!

I'd be well up for that like.

Especially on a proper wicket where I could try and get the old leg breaks going again.

Must be about 10 years since I played but did play at a reasonable level in my youth.

In fact I'm gonna have a dig around the garage this weekend now and see what state all my old gear is in.

An individual's definition of youth is very subjective though isn't it.

At your age you probably would still class me as being in my youth now.

If you find yourself short I would step in, trained with Seaton a few times 2 seasons ago, have all the gear just couldn't be bothered with it because of the stupid training times

I used to have the Test Match game but it was always boring setting it up so it gathered dust in the wardrobe till it was given to some relative who didn't appreciate it.

Petty?

All the mods have been asked to just delete these daft one word posts that add nothing but are designed to do nothing other than annoy people. I've deleted two or three myself.

It was intentional disruption and as this is board is not subject to a load of daft rules like the networks about what can and cannot be deleted the mods can moderate. Very little has been moderated in the past but for a few weeks there seemed to be a deliberate attempt to bring the board down. We acted against it and this was one of the decisions.

salty is one of a committee of moderators who make joint decisions on how the board is run and whether individual posters are operating within the spirit of the board.

i am not one of these moderators but i think by and large they do a good job and on the odd ocassion i have been considered to have gone over the top i have received a polite pm asking me to calm down.

at one point i was yellow carded, which essentially meant i couldnt post for a couple of days giving me time to calm down and reflect on things.

the way i see it the board is fun, it costs me nothing to join and i have made some good mates out of it.

somebody not only has to pay for its upkeep they also have to moderate it which also means checking every thread for stuff that is potentially libellous.

the mods on here do a bloody good job imho and it is unpaid thankless work.

if anyone dont like it they are free to go elsewhere .

You're dead right. It's a great place. You don't have to come here if you don't want to. There's one or two claiming to be Devil's Advocates i.e. expressing views they don't believe to wind the gullible up but you get tossers everywhere. On the whole it's an enjoyable read for anyone attached to Hartlepool either to the town or to Pools. Thanks to MrI who I gather does a lot of the admin and everyone else who set the Pooly Bunker up.

It's either me age or the beer thats making me so mellow
