this sort of thing will still be happening in 50 years time. Probably worse anyway. On the bright side, at least in this country even the worst kinds are not like a lot of places where they hack off the kids' limbs so as to make them more effective beggars.

I think all parents should have to pass a test before having kids. Not just the practical.

Reminds me of James Whale's idea of enforced tube tying/vasectomies that can only be reversed if you make a decent claim to have kids. Certainly has some sense in there somewhere
