Still a really good player in my opinion - he may not set the world alight with dazzling mazy runs but when he doesn't play we look far worse for it.... Hopefully Neale can get another year out of him ......

He's looked it playing in a 4-4-2.

The last two games he's done better in the system we used last season.

So would any player playing his role when no fucker around him dared show for a pass. People now make space and have the confidence to want the ball and try to get it under control so Murray can now pass it simple instead of having no options at all.

To show for some of his passes this season you'd have to be shaking off Dave the casual racist in row D of the Millhouse seats.

He gets caught on the ball a lot as well.

Good footballer though I'd have loved Pools to have had him in his prime. If we want to do well in League One now though the likes of him and Humps should not be in our team.

Thats my point, because noone was showing for passes (or we were playing people like Humps, Solano and Sweens alongside who cant control a ball/too slow to control a ball), he had tgo try passes he normally wouldnt.

Thats also the reason he got caught on the ball a lot because there were never any passes on.

No it's because he hasn't got the turn of pace/legs to create that half a yard of space hence he gets caught on the ball.

He was released by Shrewsbury 18 months ago, he's done great for us but we aren't going to do better until we move on.

i'd be amazed if he's still here next year.

He's doing a job for us right now but i'd like to think we go for a slightly younger model next season.

I couldn't give a fukk if he was released by Shrewsbury, it's how he performs in a Pools shirt that matters and I think it is fair to say he has been a cracking signing. Murray had been up and down but at least he never hides which is exactly what a lot of players were doing over the past few months. Mr Hamster has it spot on, what was Murray supposed to do when half the midfield and forwards were hiding and the full backs were scared to pass the half way line? He has been one of the few this season who has at least tried to put his foot on the ball and play football rather than hoof ball.

Also to compare him to Humphreys is silly, RH has had 4-5 cracking games for Pools in the past 2 seasons, Murray has had 20+...! I don't know whether there are fitness concerns around Murray any more but based on the evidence of this season so far I would without any doubt give him another year - other positions are a bigger priority at the moment......

If we get a younger version then great but even at 35-36 I think he can do a reliable job.

Don't really think he could hack it in the Championship next season. Pity.

Surely no fitness concerns, very rare do we rest him like we did at first. Plus his game isnt about pace and thoroughly deserves another year and am sure he will get it.

Lets face it, he's still well ahead of Sweeney and Liddle, because this season they have been awful.

Sweens had a good game as well yesterday, much like the one of old, getting forward and making runs into the box, overlaping the front men.

He had two of our best chances and only a good block/save by the keeper stopped him scoring when 1 on 1.

I think Coops had the team wanting to play and looking pretty dynamic, which probably suits him.
