A couple of things I couldn't quite fathom;

The formation was taylor made for Willie Boland to play the holding role. Playing 4-5-1 he can just sit in front in the back and let everone bomb on and get up and support Joel. McCunnie has only had one good game in the midfield for us and that was only for part of game at Elland Road earlier in the season. Why he keeps moving him from right back at every opportunity baffles me. Mind I thought Sweens had a good game yesterday but surely would have been more useful in midfield?

Why split up one of the strongest departments of our team? The Monkhouse/Humphreys combination on the left is one of our most potent attacking threats why break it up?

I thought the formation actually worked for the first half an hour of the game, we could have been 2 or 3 clear had we been as clinical as Swansea. It still irks me a little that we have been scoring for fun and playing well at home of late and have a decent home record playing 4-4-2 and to our strengths but when a top side come to the Vic we change our formation because of the opposition.

With nothing to play for surely we should have stuck to what we have been good at of late, I thought the team yesterday picked itself sctatchinghead

PJ, why can't you fathom it.
You've answered all your own queries.
He's been doing it all season - tinkering (to be polite)

The selection was a bit bafflining - our best XI should of played in their best posistions then we would of seen how good we could be against a decent side and learned more from the game......

I can't fathom it, he didn't piss around with formations and tinker when we went half the season unbeaten last season, it's not rocket science is it?

this has got to be Bolands last season with us surely? If thats the case then we need McCunnie to have time in midfield to develop understandings with Liddle and the wingers as i think its pretty obvious where DW wants to strengthen first lol

4-5-1 / 4-3-3 is a good formation to be able to utilise but i think our main problem on Saturday was we havent tried it enough. Quite a few times our players looked a little lost, although going forward we looked very dangerous.

I think we will see quite a few comings & goings this summer, but i just hope and pray we can keep at least 2 of Porter, Brown & Monkhouse.

McCunnie is not a midfielder and no matter how long Wilson persists it won't work. Play him at right back and find another solution for midfield.

Goals change games and we didn't take our chances to go 2 or 3 up and put the game to bed before half time and this discussion wouldn't have came about.
Maybe Danny Boy thought the little feller that ran the midfield for them needed taking care of and Mcunnie was the best equipped to do that obviously he didn't, personally I thought Boland would have done the job, Sweeney certainly wouldn't of.
I don't think there was much else wrong.
We were unlucky at key moments and just summed our season up for me banghead
