01. Barnsley's Darren Barnard slipped in a puddle of his new puppy's pee on the kitchen floor. The resulting knee ligament damage kept him out of action for five months.

02. In 1993 keeper Dave Beasant was kept out by a foot injury caused by a falling jar of salad cream. He fumbled it, and because his hands were full he stuck out a foot to stop it hitting the floor. Beasant got a right dressing down from his manager.

03. David Beckham felt the full force of Fergie's hairdryer treatment. He also felt a boot to his face. Don't mess with Fergie.

04. Steve Morrow scored the winning goal in the 1993 League Cup final against Sheffield Wednesday, but in the post-match celebrations Adams lifted Morrow on to his shoulders before unintentionally dropping him. Morrow was taken to hospital with a broken arm and was ruled out for the rest of the season, which meant he also missed the FA Cup final (also against Wednesday).

05. A cricket ball is small, round and very hard. In 1986 Malcolm Marshall got a ball to rise steeply off the pitch, striking Gatting a fearful blow full in the face, squashing his nose. Marshall picked up the ball to find shards of Gatting’s nose cartilage embedded in its leather. To add insult to (Gatting's) injury England lost the Test series 5-0.

06. Derek Redmond’s career was affected by injuries. He failed to finish the 400m final at the Olympics in Seoul when he sustained an Achilles problem and four years later the same thing happened again. Along the back straight, his hamstring snapped and Redmond fell. He pulled himself up, determined to finish the race. His father had been watching from the stands close to where the drama had unfolded and, dodging his way past officials, he jumped over the railing onto the track to help his son finish the race.

07. Arsenal's Perry Groves was on the bench when Arsenal scored. The lad jumped up to celebrate, only to hit his head on the roof of the dug-out. He knocked himself out and needed treatment from the physio.

08. By the time Mike Tyson fought Evander Holyfield in June 1997, his career was on the slide. In front of a sold out crowd at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, he took a bite out of his opponent's ear in the third round.

09. In 2003, Villa striker Darius Vassell injured himself while attempting DIY surgery on his own foot. He had a blood blister under the toe-nail on his big toe and was using a power drill to drill through the nail and drain the wound. Vassell made it worse, picked up an infection, and had to have half the nail removed.

10. In 1998 a young Robbie Keane ruptured his knee cartilage in 1998 after stretching to pick up his TV remote control.

Did Adam Boyd not get his toe stuck up the tap hole in the bath which kept him out for a few weeks? (before he became a regular in Cooper's first season)

And of course there's Boyd's injuries caused during the streaking incident.
