Post subject: When we've fell behind.....

away from home this season we've lost all but but two games (Northampton and Cheltenham both 1-1). We've lost the other 14.

If I was one of our players reading that I'd be fooking ashamed.

Do they not have a backbone?

A stat like that in part has to be down to attitude.

On the other hand we've tossed away loads of leads ourselves.

You're not normally one to overreact PJ - but you are overreacting.

No I'm not it's a shameful statistic.

Not once have when we have fallen behind on the road this season have we shown the attitude and character to come back and win.

Our away record is cack and attitude has to be questioned now.

Maybe it has nothing to do with character and attitude and more to do with the fact the players - as a group - aren't good enough to be a top-10 side?

and Crewe who brushed us aside today are?

The likes of Walsall, Southend, Orient, Brighton, and even Carlisle on paper are no better than us. This league is nowhere near as strong as it was in the two seasons we finished 6th.

We have underachieved this season and our away record is terrible.

PJ is spot on - many people have finally said enough's enough for the away games. The away followings at Bristol and Brighton are going to be pitifully small - it will consist of those die-hards who can't wrench themselves away from the cycle of letting their lives revolve around Pools - I know this because I let it happen to me for years, a large chunk of my life I'll never get back - and I know of many other people like Chip who did likewise.
Family and friends and other interests have to be taken on board in place of travelling thousands of miles a year, just to watch a team who become a bunch of no-hopers the second they step on the team bus.
I don't know if that makes me a Pools glory supporter these days (despite the fact that mentioning Pools and glory in the same sentence is a contradiction in terms ),bit if it does then so be it. I've done my hard labour if you like, and quite frankly the money it costs these days means they had better be good to watch when I get to wherever they are playing. However they aren't, and I know in my heart on 90% of away games they WILL be rubbish, and play like girls. Bollocks to spending money on that.

Maybe the team gets demoralised after starting well week after week only to have a defensive cock up turn the game into an uphill struggle.
Yes I know they're professionals but motivation is not a simple science where input X always gives output Y.
We as spectators get demoralised when we see this happen repeatedly so why wouldn't the players?

The most glaringly obvious solution to me is to straighten the fookin defence out first (defence involving all 11 players of course) then all the rest will follow. But isn't that what Mao Tse Kev has been reminding us for months?
Wilson hasn't proved capable of sorting the defence out this season though has he.

Worryingly, I've started agreeing with Kev also. Only a bit, but still worryingly

How can you have a row with a taxi driver where you are. The only journey we did that cost more than 70p was when four of us did 200miles for £28 and he wouldn't take a tip. If you're arguing over fares like that I reckon its the the scottish ancestry coming out.

And another thing is that I've been told heads do go down when they go behind but it's only rumour cos I might not have been there.
