I know there's a lot on here who don't like the whole Wimbledon/MK thing, but you can't fault this...

"MK Dons fans snapped up their initial allocation of 26,000 tickets for the Johnstone's Paint Trophy final in just five days. (Telegraph)"

Maybe so, but what's that got to do with Milton Keynes FC?

They should be expelled from the league and Wimbledon reinstated. Bunch of twats.

Thats exceptional support for a new club and all this franchise stuff is very tedious. Lots of people pontificating about something they know sod all about. Nobody liked the old Wimbledon and now they get upset that MK's took it over.

For those interested in anything like the truth; Wimbledon were bankrupt, groundless, fanless and about to cease to exist until the MK lot saved what was left. Fair play to the people of Milton Keynes for supporting their home town club.

If that is true Mr I then they should have been left to die quietly. There were plenty of other long-established clubs who could have taken their place, so why favour the MK solution? You can't even say it was for continuity (unless you count footballers' contracts).

If Milton Keynes wanted to join the Football League they should have been made to do exactly the same as every other club - work their way up through the pyramid by getting promotion after promotion. Not by buying a place in the league at the expense of another. I stand by saying they are a bunch of twats and I hope they fold and Pete Winkleman goes with them too. rage

Hmmm, I didn't know there was a Milton Keynes FC, although I couldn't find what the PB stood for. I've always thought it would only be a matter of time before MK Dons dropped the Dons part, perhaps not. Suppose they could be AFC Milton Keynes.

Whatever people say there does appear to be plenty of support amongst the locals for their new football club.

I'd like to see what happened if they started to struggle like, they'll be no hard core support, but in a time when the premiership is struggling to hold onto its audience and family focused club in an area with such a huge catchment of potential fans could turn out to be quite a force in the lower divisions.

...and if somebody wanted to buy Pools and relocate them to Stevenage, would you still be congratulating the fans of Stevenage Harts...?

Or relocate HUFC to Scarborough?

I have no time at all for MK Dons, although contrary to that I would prefer to see them promoted at darlow's expense in light of their current league positions.

I do regularly look out for AFC Wimbledon's results though and think it would be nice if they could get back to Conference / Div 4 level. They get crowds of 2k+ in their current division (1 below Conference South) so crowd wise they do deserve a team at that sort of level.

Technically they're not really a franchise. I don't think they have the rights to the history of Wimbledon FC or any trading rights to the name.

I'm completely indifferent to them. Sooner or later MK was to get a team. It's just a shame that there isn't a measure in place to make other teams cough up a tiny, tiny amount (or percentage) of their weekly taking to bail teams like Wimbledon out.

Probably not but they aren't and I don't remember all of the bleeding hearts coming out in support of Pools during the many times we almost folded. As for MKD/Wimbledon, I care not a jot about either. It's about as relevant to me as some old biddy popping her clogs in Peru.

Chances of them folding is small to be fair. if they struggled a bit they'd just have to arrange a friendly with Man Ure or some other 'big' club (darlington??) to fill that monster stadium up to give them a few hundred thousand £££'s

There used to be one: 4% of all gate receipts put into a pot for redistribution across the league. This was back in the day when revenue from TV deals was also shared across the 92 clubs.

I've just been reminded of one my favourite football quotes, one that demonstrates the sheer brass balls of some of the people at the top:

"The smaller clubs are bleeding the game dry. For the sake of the game they should be put to sleep"
- Martin Edwards, Manchester United, 1982

...

Seriously?

I hate Man Utd even more than I used to now. Christ, that's just grim.
