Just got back from the Vic, was lucky enough to be given a free ticket to the Lunch with a Legend, guest of Honour, Super Gordon Watson. clappp clappp clappp
What a cracking event
After the lunch there was a Parkinson style chat between Chris Turner and Flash, where he gave some very candid answers about his time at the club, and certain places and people. rolfl rolfl
Given what's happened in the past to people posting on messageboards, I better not go into details, but suffice to say Flash doesn't have a high opinion of some bus drivers. rage
Asked if he was thinking about trying his hand at management, he said it was a possibility.
One of the funniest moments was when Len Ashurst was asking about whether he still did the dogs, Flash replied that he was currently president of his local GA... at which point the big screen next to Len cut to show the horse racing rolfl rolfl rolfl

Don't think I'm going to get much work done this after....

Easily the best striker I have seen at pools in my time.

A shame injury ruined the back end of his time here, he looked on fire at the start of our promotion season.

I really don't know, the first I knew about it was Monday when I was asked if I wanted to go.
I asked
1) Who's the legend?
2) more importantly, what's for lunch

When I heard it was Flash though, the lunch didn't matter (soup, chicken cheese and biscuits btw)

There were a number of local media people there, including Paul Gough, Nick Loughlin, a table from the Mail including the editor and the mayor was in attendance too.

There was a raffle for centenary ball, old casey in a box with 1908 - 2008. It was number 1 of a run of 50.
Didn't win it
There was also another prize for a quiz on Flash, an autographed ball, which I also didn't win.
If you like I'll post the questions later.

It was advertised on the offical site Mutters and I think, the Mail.

Here's the questions from today

How many clubs did Gordon Watson play for?
How many goals did Gordon Watson score for Hartlepool United?
How many career goals did Gordon Watson score?
What was the last game Gordon Watson played for Hartlepool United?
What club did Gordon Watson make his first appearance for Hartlepool United against?
What squad number did Gordon Watson wear at Hartlepool United?
At which club did Gordon Watson begin his career?
At which club did Gordon Watson play his last game?
Gordon Watson was top scorer in 01/02 season, who was the next top scorer at Hartlepool United and how many goals was it?
Which club did Gordon Watson score his hat-trick against?
