If he did that for a whole season we'd end up on 84 points.

An absolutely crucial player who I always thought was over-rated, the way he links the midfield and attack right across the pitch is one of the reason that our best attacking performances this season have come when he has started (Oldham, Orient away, Tranmere and last night).

Him and Brownie as wingers next season, someone to partner Lidds in the middle and that is a great midfield. rolf

Ben Clark?

A good shout and I think most would go with that.

It's certainly a good option, though if Willie Boland can repeat last night's level of performance every week then I don't think there is any need to change things.

Indeed but I think he has proved this season that he can't perform consistently at this level. Clarky is great at spreading the ball out wide and that's a great option to have when you have two excellent wingers like Brownie and Monky

Monkhouse is certainly not over rated!!!! The lad is class, every time he plays for Pools we have a different dimension to our side. The way he can stretch those long legs to bring the ball under quick control gives us a huge amount of possession. He can win the ball in the air against 95% of fullbacks on the wing because of his height advantage. He's deceptively fast, and is excellent at running at defenders with the ball, and he just seems to glide past them without having to use a great deal of quick footwork. He also gets stuck in, and links up well with the team in general. A crucial player to Pools, we don't carry half as much threat going forward when he doesn't play.

His form's gone right down the nick hasn't it. I remember when we didn't lose ANY games when Monkhouse played!

And with Monkhouse and Porter starting together, based on their records of L2, W4 then we'd be second right or first right now with 72 points +.

I think that's just Tax's deliberate mistake for to-day. He meant to say 'under-rated'. Too much beer, probably....

Nah, not for me, clarkys a great centre half but i remember a few years ago when he had a few games in the middle and he just didnt look comfortable playin there at all, one game sticks in my head away to blackpool, think boydie scored two that day, clarky had a mere. I can see why people are suggesting it like, it would be tragic to see him spending another season on the fringes of the team!

I was surprised at how long Sinclair lasted on the pitch for them last night, the amount of times Monkhouse just glided past him as if he wasn't there, obviously it was one too many for their manager when he finally took him off.

It all depends on how Wilson rates him...that's the bottom line.
I'd hate to see the summer come and Wilson be saying......'we made him a good offer and we really are sorry to see him go, but I believe we have players who can perform in that position and I see this as an opportunity to try out something different in this ....blah, blah,...ad nauseum.

No, I thought he was over-rated. I was talking in past tense. People ranted about him last season and I just thought he was 'good' while others were describing him as 'excellent'. He was surrounded by players who were all playing superbly then and I didn't realise how good his contribution was. When he played in the Oldham game we won 4-1, I realised how good he is and I am now of the opinion that he is excellent and isn't over-rated.

There are few wingers like him and if he had played in every game this season we would be in the top six easily, regardless of who we were playing upfront.
