Played the full 90 minutes for the stiffs yesterday, cracking. I love Clarkie me like, he actually looks like he's bothered about how things are going on the pitch. I know must players probably are, but Clarkie wears his heart on his sleeve.

Ok, so the problem is, how the hell is he going to get in the team now? I've got Collins as my number one centre back, then it's one from three to play alongside him. I wonder if it's time to put him back in the middle, Clark and Liddle partnership could work nicely.

I was pondering the same thing the other day. Unless theres an injury I don't see Wilson breaking up the Collins/Nelson partnership. I think he can play the holding midfield role as well if not better than anyone else at the club. Either way he should be in the team, he's one of the top five players at the club.

It's an awful long time since he played midfield. Can anyone remember what he was like?

I remember him in mid-field, doing pretty classy link-ups with Boydy

Clark has already played and been comfortable in the holding /tackling/giving the simple pass to the flair players role, when he first came here under Cooper.

He's a better centre half than he is a midfielder, a better centre half than Nelson in my opinion.

As has been said however he is also a better midfielder than most at the club and him and Liddle in the middle could turn out to be a good pairing.

Sounds like Ben is still a couple of weeks away from 1st team selection. Wilson gave an interesting interview to Radio Tees on a whole host of issues

very intriguing stuff in there - Gillingham another team in trouble eh? Me and Mad John were speculating it might have been Port Vale as all the other clubs down there seemed to be on a sound finacial footing - obviously Mr Scally's money is running short.

I'm sure they did a sale and lease back on their ground to restructure their debt just after we played them at their place.

bad move if the rent is sky high (which I'll bet it wil be). Pools pay nothing like the ground rent some of the likes of Bournemouth are paying

I'd prefer Clark in the middle over Boland.

Ben Clark was excellent in the central midfield role earlier this season against Chesterfield in the JP trophy.

It may well have been against lesser opposition in a less competitive match, but Ben Clark really shone that night. Not just in the holding role though, he was the most creative and mobile player on show that evening.

He’s ability as a footballer shouldn’t be underestimated, certainly worth a try in midfield.

I'd vote for Ben Clark over Boland any time. Boland is slow, uncreative and gives too many fouls away. Clark has put in some excellent performances in midfield over the past three years.

Never thought about a Liddle/Clark pairing - it could be a promisng partnership. It should give Lidds a bit more confidence. I'm sure Bolands poor form is affecting Liddles as well.

Because he's right, and we are all clueless, know nothing, none playing at a reasonable level (with the odd exception of course) low league supporters.

Presumably, Billingham, as a fan of Søren Kierkegaard, your faith in Danny arises out of your rational doubts? I'm sure he does actually know more about his job than us, and his Pools track record is good. But after watching the Northampton match and the substitutions he made, my faith is shaken as I couldn't see much rationality going on.

Am I right in my belief that Ben Clark has Played for England at all levels under 18?

He is a true footballer, with proper class - touch, strength, mobility, awareness, great positional play and an ability to create a bit of space for himself. Thinking about it I can't believe Godwin has played ahead of him so many times this season. I would love to see a Clark/Liddle midfield, I reckon it would take some matching in this division.

Boland hasn't been at his best recently, and Clarke when fully fit can easily last the full 90.
