Taken from Vital Hartlepool (http://www.hartlepool.vitalfootball.co. ... p?a=101834)

Danny Wilson has admitted that Andy Monkhouse could remain on the bench for longer after the Pools boss was disappointed by the winger recently.

Wilson told that Mail that despite Monkhouse's great form last season, he's unsure if he can compete at this level ''History tells you that if someone plays well last season, it does not mean it will continue. They have got to be on top of their game all the time.''

''People need to step up and show they have got the fight to get into the team. Being disappointed on the sidelines is one thing, but getting back in the side is another.''

Even with Monkhouse and Jamie McCunnie waiting on the sidlines Wilson also insisted that changes would be kept to a minimum ''Maybe one or two changes in positions might just help us out a bit though.

''I do feel that one or two players are lacking that bit of confidence. When they get criticism as well it doesn't help.

''Sometimes they need to be left out - but only if we can afford to leave them out which is often the biggest problem.''

WHAT?

Monkhouse was one of our star players last season and was playing well earlier in the season until he got injured and Wilson meddled with the team. Since then we've been pi$$ poor more often than not.
Comments like this from Wilson make you think seriously about his judgement.

Same's got to be true of managers as well then - if he managed well last season it doesn't mean it will continue.

I think it's pretty bad to single players out in public like that...especially in view of the players who have been being played by DW week after week, despite not deserving to be picked. Where does that leave Andy Monkhouse? What comeback does he have?

Reading Wilson's quote, he doesn't specifically single out Monkhouse, it is Vital Football that does that.

DW, that is the biggest load of utter monkey bollox gibberish I have ever heard. Give yer heed a shake and play your most talented players feckwit. You are seriously losing it man.

Is Wilson really saying....'I won't be playing Monkhouse because I much prefer another player who works really hard in training and listens to my every word..... step forward David Foley'.....? .

until we know FOR SURE what is going on are you really in a position to call people idiots

perhaps it could be the case that he expressed an opinion to leave and perhaps his agent sought a deal with another club and then it all went tits up cos he needed an opertion.

who knows eh?
