Hello boys and girls, hope you are all well.

Thought I'd check in and report that we had it in the Midlands too (and it frightened the life out of me :uhoh: )

News has it that the town centre has been totally demolished. Early estimates have said that the damage has caused millions of pounds worth of improvements

I've been reading some of the posts on the BBC's 'Have Your Say' page....there's some beauties....

I was woken by the whole house shaking. It also woke my husband who can usually sleep "through an earthquake"
Victoria, Glossop

I woke up and heard a noise that sounded like really bad wind and then i felt my bed moving under me and a loud rumbling.
i was so scared !

Sophie, Leeds

Nope. As a typical middle class couple, my partner and I had consumed vast amounts of alcohol yesterday evening (as we do every evening) and were far too drunk for a mere earthquake to wake us up.

Anon

I did feel it. Being at 1 in the morning, I was quite tired and given that my house is in the flight path of East Midlands Airport, my first reaction was that a plane had gone down. The second one was that maybe a lorry had crashed into or near my house. When it was 'only' an earthquake I was quite disappointed.

Sam Chew, Loughborough

The quake didn't disturb me but I was woken up 5 mins later by a text asking if I'd felt it ! Doh !

Paul White

   clappp

My whole house fell down around me and then the gas pipes exploded. It was the most frightening thing that has ever happened to me. I won't sleep tonight. I blame global warming.

Andrew White, Koln, Germany

  rolfl rolfl

The quake was so bad in my nan's house that the mirror hanging above the fireplace fell off the wall straight onto her cat Tyson and broke his leg!

Richard James, Hull

i was on the phone to my girlfriend at the time, and i heard a loud noise. i never thought it was an earthquake, i just thought my mum had fallen out of the bed

Aaron Negus, Sheerness

When will Britian wake up and realise what I have known for many years? This nation is sinking under the weight of an unsustainable population.

Scientist know this, but have been hushed up by Gordon Clown and his Trotskist cabinet. We are reaping the rewards of being the world's lifeboat for illegals and 'asylum seekers' and now we are sunk. I wonder if people will be so liberal when beloved treasures like Brighton dissapear under the waves?

This quake was a warning not to be ignored.

[UnionJackSparrow], London, United Kingdom

My husband and I were woken up by a huge shake and I thought he was shaking the bed!!! Soon I realised it was earthquake and was surprised and also terrified as I just couldn't get ready for it! Maybe we shall have some practice for such things in order to keep us all safe? I was so scared as if it really make a damage, my 3 month old baby boy might get hurt as I was so not experienced and terrified that I even didn't think to pick him up...So lucky it was just a shake.

Ariel, Milton Keynes

sctatchinghead sctatchinghead sctatchinghead

have not been in the vicinity of a quake measuring either 6 or 7 on the richter scale, and was not in the vicinity of this 5.2 quake. In fact I felt absolutely nothing. This, however, won't stop me from trying to find some tenuous link to the natural phenomenon we call "climate change" and pointing the finger at the 4x4 driver who lives 3 doors away. It's all his fault anyway and I urge you all to picket his house and weigh his rubbish in case he causes another quake.

Iain Mair, Stirling

  clappp

Some brilliant ones there....and still another 40 pages to read!!!!

We always get tremors in East Anglia like this but last nights was bad. So bad that it got me into trouble as I was sitting up drinking another bottle of plonk than the one I was drinking when she went to bed. Well as I sneaked into bed rather tipsy at about 00:40 the house shook, she woke up, I slurred something earthquakish and today I am not being spoken to. Thanks for nothing you Judas seismic wave causing tectonic earthquake grasses.

My husband and I feel nature has turned against us! Three or four weeks ago our fence was blown over in heavy winds, and last night we lost some roof tiles in the quake! Seems like nature is demolishing our house piece by piece!

Maggie, Thurnscoe, Rotherham.

I won't be leaning on the back legs of my chair again in a hurry.

"They say animals can sense a 'quake coming - well, my dog Nipper woke me up with a cup of tea shortly beforehand, told me it was coming and not to worry. They say that they're intelligent but he forgot that I don't take sugar! Perhaps it was for the shock.

Michael Winston "

That's nothing! My cat Fluffy set up an early warning website and predicted this three months ago. He's got bored of predicting earthquakes now and is now making a fortune as a long range weather forecaster.
