Pools played it at Donny. Stevo did it against Port vale the day we went down.

England under 21's started that way last night.

And Brazil played it 1970 when they administered the most savage mauling there's ever been in a world cup final. Weird eh?

4-5-1 can only work if you have sensational midfielders that are far greater than the opposition, Chelsea have done it as they have Lampard, Cole, SWP etc running things and Man U have had Giggs, Scholes, Ronaldo etc.

4-4-2 every time for me. Two decent full backs (ideally not your best attacking midfielder if possible) and two out and out wingers. Easy.

Seemed more like 3-2-1-0 on the night!

I'd say that applies to the national team more than the clubs. When they run into top-class opposition in major tournaments, the opposition coach just says "hmmm, England. Two centre backs, one better in the air, one better on the deck; two central midfielders, one holding, one attacking; two full backs who overlap, two wingers who track back, one big fella, one goalhanger, zero flexibility, one piece of piss"

The best summing up of the England team I have seen.

Is it only me that fails to see how 'good' Lampard and Weasle eye Terry are?

Hopefully Cap' might be able to coach the crapness out of them, it will be a hard task mind you!

Or am I being too negative and they really are 'up for it' and 'world class'??

Terry is excellent, a great leader and you can't argue with the defensive record at Chelsea over the last few years. It's a shame the bloke is a tosser really. World class? Not far away IMO.

Lampard is an excellent Premiership footballer but has failed consistently on the international scene. He has scored 20+ goals every season for the last four seasons and is nicely set to do it again this year. The fact he has never done anything on the world scene surely say he isn't world class?

Terry is the better of the two and I reckon if Capello can get the best out of the pair then they have the potential of world class players but I don't think either player has time on their hands to get the full potential of the supposed Capello revolution

Can't agree there. I like Gerrard even if he doesn't have tendencies to shoot from 55 yards out regardless of who he has infront of him.

His sublime individual performance against AC Milan in the CL final and his goal against West Ham in the FA Cup final against West Ham that forced extra time are probably two massive reasons why the scousers love him.

I did after laugh when he talked about 'his hell' when Chelsea were trying to sign him and he couldn't decide whether to stay or not. I don't know how the poor lamb fought through it!

Spot on MJ! The bloke is an awful passer who is almost painful to watch at times. What the fuck is with him and the stupid long hit and hope balls he seems to always play? He also has a tendency to try and do everything by himself, further disrupting his team's play.

Terry is just a thug, yes he might posses leadership skills but as a player I reckon there are several others who should be ahead of him in the England team, players like Ferdinand, Woodgate, King, Upson, Taylor, Dawson

I'd have Les Dawson, Elizabeth Taylor and Jonathan King ahead of Wayne Bridge.
