... a trend that seems to be gaining in popularity..I'll explain. Going round the Burn Valley roundabout last night at teatime, there was screeching and blowing of horns all over the place...looked around to see three blokes on bikes in grubby high viz coats riding from St Aidans way on the wrong side of the road against the flow of traffic and round the roundabout by not going actually around it, but by cutting the corner off...as they screamed abuse at every horn sounded.....now I'd hate see anyone involved in a road traffic accident, but in this case ................

90% of cyclists are bounders and no mistake

pedaling down one way streets the wrong way, wobbling along the road like a pissed up three year old, then up on the pavement to avoid the lights

No lights on their bikes etc, etc

Make the turds pay road tax and insurance if they want to be on the road rage

there has been considerable money spent up and down this country on safer crossing points at things such as roundabouts, specifically for cyclists. The cycle routes even have this painted on the floor!!!!! I should know, I cycled about for long enough to realise that negotiating a roundabout on a bike these days is a no-no.They probably aren't native to these shores if they don't realise this, I haven't seen many people attempting to pedal around a roundabout during rush hour for a long, long time.

Not a cat in hell

If a nobhead on a push iron cuts me up, I'll knock em off, simple as that, not at speed, just enough to ensure they will think twice about obeying the simple rules of the road

A bike doesn't make you invisible, invincible or above the Highway Code banghead

stpid You'd really knock them off?? stpid

What about the bit of the highway code that says you should give a cyclist at least as much room as you would give another car??
I often cycle to work and do actually obey the highway code, waiting at traffic lights etc, and it pi55es me right off when cars fly past about 2 inches away from my ar5e!

I was always told to treat every other road user as if they were an idiot and not capable of tying shoelaces, never mind drive a car or ride a bike on the road. That way, you'll always keep your distance and if they are up your dish, let them past or else slow right down such that any impact will be minimal, assuming they are in fact idiots!!!!!!.

As a regular cyclist (in the warmer half of the year at least), my biggest problem has never been cars or lorries or buses - it has been those nobhead PEDESTRIANS who think cycles just evaporate if you get in their way.

yep, pedestrians on cycle paths. When you ring the bell on the bike to let them know you're approaching them, they just turn round, look at you, turn back round and carry on exactly where they were. Complete and utter stupidity, you end up swerving around them and they wonder why you get angry at them getting angry with you, because you dared to try and make them move!!!!!

What about The Real Life Code which says it will hurt the cyclist a damn sight more than it will hurt me so he had better make sure he keeps out of my way and not vice versa?

I wouldn't discriminate against cyclists.

Pedestrians can be just as bad.

But the way I see it is that if they are stupid enough to play chicken with a car and lose then I can't blame myself for them being thick.

ANY cyclist on a bike not wearing either a high viz jacket or not having lights at the back and front should have their bike taken off them and crushed

So, by this logic should cars pull over to keep out of the way of lorries, busses, etc. because if they crash then the car will come off a lot worse?!?! sctatchinghead

I might just buy a tank cos then when I drive along I'll be able to just crush anything that gets in my way, and best of all it'll be their fault!!!

The only place I have ridden (and felt totally safe doing so) a bike, was on Sark in the Channel Isles. I would never consider doing it on our roads, there are far to many road users like Mr Avenger (now we know the point of his surname) with no thought for other road users.

Try Nottingham! miles and miles of proper cycle paths. The council really have gone balls out to try and develop the cycle routes, you can go all over the city without hardly touching the roads.

My gripe was, just incase you didn't manage to grasp it, was KNOBHEAD cyclists who ride along the road without due care or attention, without lights, without the correct clothing, come off the pavement into the road then back again to avoid the lights etc etc etc

Sorry I seem to have misunderstood this from your earlier post. As it happens, I share most of your thoughts with regard to cyclists, particularly if they want to ride on the roads they should be paying some sort of contribution.
