Right Mutters, plug your ipod into your usb port.

Follow the installation instructions, itunes will open, load all ur songs onto it, then use a simple drag and drop method to put songs on it.

Simple as pie

They've never been away, as far as I am concerned.

Right, first of all you need to get the music into iTunes - it will quite happily rip CDs for you, or if you already have a load of MP3s you can tell it where to find them - File menu, add folder to Library and then find where they're stored should do it.

When you're looking at the list of music in iTunes, you should see that there's a little check box by each track. You can use this to decide whether it goes on the iPod or not - or just put absolutely everything on there. So if f'rexample you decide you really don't want the Barry Manilow CD your missus gave you for Christmas on there, you can uncheck them. (You can select multiple tracks, then right click and do uncheck selection if she got you the Manilow Box Set....)

When you plug the iPod in, it will come up with something that will show you options - a load of tabs along the top. On one of these there's something about Synchronisation - you can tell it to sync selected items only, everything, from a particular playlist only etc.

If you choose to sync selected items only, to get rid of it off the iPod uncheck it in iTunes and then the next time you synchronise it the track(s) will be removed off the device. They're still on the computer though, so you can always listen to Copacobana on there, or re-select it to put it back on the iPod at a later date.
