After watching the Arse - Spurs game tonight, I got speaking to a guy who turned out to be the captain of my local non-league team Kingstonian.

As always, I managed to get onto the subject of Hartlepool and he said that both his brother and sister lived in the town. He said he hadn't been up there for over 10 yrs but that he drank in a pub called the touchdown near the rugby club sctatchinghead although he was convinced it had since been pulled down.

Now I don't know all the drinking holes in the town, but I certainly haven't heard of the touchdown. The guy was pissed but was he taking the piss out of me as I must admit, I am a bit gullible!

I'll never forget, you called me a get, one night in the Touchdown.
I remember the night I fell in the shite just leaving Touchdown.

Aye it exists, on the corner of West View Road next to Central Estate.

I don't care how good it is, it's in the wrong spot for me to give it a visit. I can't see the point in trailing a taxi all the way over there when it's easier to go into town (and the plenty of restaurants there) and there is no way I would park my car round there.

The "WOK INN" is spot on

Partaken myself a few times clappp

Why cant you park your car round there? sctatchinghead Wont get pinched off the Remploy mob

Used to pop in the Touchdown as well, nice little boozer, and before it shut had the BEST sunday dinners in town by a hairy arsed mile!!!!!!

Times change, but sometimes it's best and more normal to have a pint in a spit and sawdust pub like the Touchdown, Brus, Woodcutter(?), than with the hoy palloy in the Tall Ships, White House, ET AL.

Just my opinion like thrilled

I concur with that.

I normally drink in King Johns, The Clarendon, The Woodcutter, The Park or The Causeway.

The Shite House is THE worst pub in the town and full of pretentious arseholes. The Tall Ships will probably be the same.

I walked round to the Tall Ships on Saturday night (it's now officially my local as I live up there). We walked it, saw how fookin busy it was then turned round and went home. It looked worse than town, six deep at the bar, couldn't get more than a few foot in the door.

I'll wait till the novelty factor wears off me thinks.

Now the Aldi arms, I like it in there, it's canny like, good food as well.
