A DISTRAUGHT Ritchie Humphreys struggled to find the words to describe Hartlepool United's abysmal showing against Cheltenham Town.
The Pools captain was shocked by a terrible team performance that saw the side with the worst away record in League One run riot for the opening 45 minutes.

Pools had gone into the game firm favourites to clinch three points after a decent draw at Northampton last week and a home record that suggested it would be a comfortable fixture.

But Pools were second best all over the pitch and Humphreys admitted that he was just as culpable as anyone else in a blue and white shirt.

Humphreys said: "It is difficult to know what to say really. As a whole 90 minu
tes it is not good enough, it is not us.

"It is simply a case of controlling and passing the ball, competing at the right times and being strong as a unit. I don't think we did any of those well and it means you are going to lose a football match if you don't do things like that.

"You get games like this every now and then. You don't want any and we don't want it to happen again. We will be doing everything possible to not repeat that because our fans don't want to see performances like that.

"Even at home this season, although we have not been winning as much as we had done before, it has still been okay. I just re-iterate that that pure and simple wasn't good enough.

"There were a few balls in the box second half that maybe could have gone our way. But we had our little bit of luck in the first half by not conceding more than one goal."

He's full of shit. Pools have performed in four or five games this season and the rest we have been awful. I'm afraid it is 'us'
