I've got to be honest I don't really know the in's and out's, but how come they are now looking at sites for a new one?

Why don't we just spend a load of money on the current one?

They wanna build a great big new "Super Hospital" to replace Hartlepool General and North Tees.

The gist of the thinking I believe is that they can provide better care / spend less money* if they centralise to one site.

it wont get rid of the bugs till the staff can clean their hands properly

the idea that a new building will replace the old and do the same job is tosh

north tees will remain and we will finish up with what we have now local clinics

there is some eye wash in this mail thing about possible sites in hartlepool when they were supposed to have aquired the land in wynyard ten years ago

snowy get that brother in law of yours on the telling bone

It'll be Wynyard I bet. The other sites in Stockton are both via Portrack, just over 2 miles from James Cook Hospital, which would be hell to get to for anyone and give people around that area the very best of madical cover while we would have a third world spelk clinic.
Whenever people in suits, who'll have moved on in a couple of years anyway, start talking about improving things by 'rationalising' them, take it with a massive pinch of salt.
I see Mr Wright was banging on about access to the new hospital via his obsession with the 'Tees Metro', for which we in Hartlepool are marked down for being a later addition... so it could be Portrack Discount General after all
I never everv thought I'd say this, but,.... come back Peter Mandelson..... I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF THE JUVENILE LEAD. banghead

the bottom line for me, and i'm sure one of you heducated gents will put me right, is this :

how can they justify not providing a town of our size (not including the yakkers) with a permanent hospital ? how the fook am i going to get to north tees easily the next time i snap summat playing footy ? i had to take my little girl to the general when she scalded herself. the thought of having to take one of the kids (perhaps screaming in pain) all the way through to north tees makes me want to punch someone.

it's literally playing politics with people's lives. the blood of anyone who dies as a result of the hospital going the journey will be quite definitely on the hands of the twats who make decisions like this, and all those who seek to justify it.

party of the people ? don't make me fucking laugh rage

I've noticed on the timetable for the 'free' bus going from Hartlepool General to North Tees, that the stop at Queens Meadow is approximately half of the journey time. Possibly an indication that a 'Super Hospital' built there would be better for everyone, if one ever materializes. Though the Wynyard option is certainly more likely to happen.

Trouble is, all the rarfs who think up these schemes are smug middle class suits who assume everyone's family has a car for each member of the family and access is no problem.
If this lunatic obsession to centralise everything in the interests of 'efficiency' is so good, why not build a super duper mega hospital for the whole of England in the middle of the country....mind you, you may have a canny wait at casualty...
