Iain Wright was appointed Parliamentary Under Secretary of State in the Dept of Communities and Local Government in June 2007. Power is always delightful to a politician. Principle comes second.

Any idea of the timing when the reduction in services at the hospital was finally agreed...?

As always its a smoke screen. Any issue a little sensitive in a constituency, the local MP can resign saying he quit on a point of principles. Everyones a winner. The MP because he's popular with his gullible constituents. The government keep to their policy without any word from aforementioned MP who is now asking for a bus to take dying people 15 miles. Ten minutes later there's a quick shuffle and he's back in another job of the same level.
