I have in my possesion a disabled parking badge and the id card that goes with it. This allowed the holder to park pretty much anywhere they like.

Quandry - should I use it?

Being as I'm going to be spending an awful lot of time in London during the coming months, its going to be hard to resist.

I suppose you need to recognise that using a disabled parking space when you don't need to, stops someone who is disabled and needs to use it from doing so.

Once you come to terms with this you will know what to do.

I wasn't suggesting using disabled bays, I was on about the ability to park on yellow lines in city centres.

To be honest, most disabled bays such as supermarkets etc, aren't legally enforcable. By the way, why so many? when I try an park in the big Asda in Nottingham I get the feeling they're expecting a bus trip in from Lourdes.

On a similar note did anybody see in The Mail the other night about the cheeky bird complaining cos she got clamped for parking in a disabled bay and wanting the fine overturning when she's not disabled? stpid

It narks the hell out of me when able bodied folk park in those bays without having the badge.

The only thing worse is people using a friend or relatives badge to park there when they know they are taking a spot from somebody who might really need it.

Wasn't hers more because her son couldn't be in cold conditions too long and if she didn't park there she would have to walk for ages?

Everybody has a sob story.

I don't like getting rained on but I don't park in the disabled bays near to the door to save me getting wet.

You dick!

"We cant take him out in the cold and damp because he might get it back so there is no way I could have parked away from the centre and walked back."

Maybe she has a point, maybe she doesn't.

I think she's still got more of a case for illegally parking than Mr I!

Sorry, but for clarity are you suggesting that it is only Daily Mail readers who think that able bodied folk shouldn't park in disabled bays? sctatchinghead

Not at all, but I don't think the lady in question had a 'sob story'

A fit 'young' ginger haired, daily mail, smoker, should be able to to handle the cold

If there was any risk to a newphew/niece of mine, I would of done the same

But if there was a real risk then would she not qualify for a disabled badge anyway?

Perhaps it might be wise to factor in the absolute paranoia displayed by the authorities around the country about parking and about the motorist in general.

However if you get pulled doing it they'll take you to the cleaners and they are extremely good at this sort of thing in London particularly.

So for self preservation rather than moral issues, no.

On balance I have decided the following:

I will not use it in specific disabled parking areas, or disabled parking areas on streets. If I'm in London and there's nowhere else to park than a yellow line then the bastids going in the window.

Whoa whoa whoa there you lot talking about that Women and her baby at the Health Centre!!!! confised

Now I'm not been Heartless here but....

1. She parked in a Disabled Bay....her baby isn't disabled and neither is she!!!!

2. Yes her baby was born prematurely but is now nearly 4 months old!!!!

3. It wasn't as if it was an emergency....the baby was getting immunisations!!!!

4. There was nearly a full page spread in the Mail the other week saying that the Health Centre was getting this firm in because people kept parking in the disabled areas thus leaving disabled people with nowhere to park. People were taking no notice of the signs in the car park and that's why they got this frim in!!!!

5. She is a single parent and so she's probably unemployed and a scrounger so she deserves everything she gets!!!! :uhoh:
