:uhoh: Don't know anything about this lad other than he play a hell of a lot of games for us well before I was born :uhoh:

Was he any good like?!?

And does Ritchie have a chance of overhauling his 450 odd appearances?

Watty Moore was the absolute dog's bollocks. We've never had a player since who could marshall the defence like he did.
To see him you'd never have imagined he was a center half, but he regularly eclipsed center forwards who were six inches taller than him.
Him and Ken Johnson must have played together in the same team something like 300 times (Ken's 400-odd games came slightly later that Watty's), and in both cases they were born and bred in (West)/Hartlepool and Pools was the ONLY football league club they ever played for. You can't get more Poolie than that.

Practically the only time Watty never had a tab dangling from his lips was when he was on the field.

My nan always used to rave about Wattie Moore. Of all the Pools players he got the most mention. I dont think Ritchie quite has the same hero status

Leo Hardin the Flying Dustman was the same era as well. Me mam always said he was flying down the wing on a Saturday and flying down the backstreet pulling the washing line down the rest of the week. He never gave up the day job did leo though and his playing career was patchier than Watty Moore or Kenny Johnson probably cos he worked through the week. These were the days when wageswere capped.

Little known Wattie Moore fact.

Started out as a centre forward.

If only half of the stories about him , are true, he was some character.

Down the Devon, for a beer, before the game.
Turn up, have a blinder, then back down the Devon

These lads today are part timer's when it comes to drinking
