Today's paper reckons it is pretty much a done deal for Leyton Orient to get the Olympic stadium for nowt after the Olympics in 2012.

So the Government uses our money to give them a brand new stadium free of charge?

I'm sure that the only person in Hartlepool who thinks that it's a good idea is Smiley Happy Weasly Not Enough Oxygen to the Brain Wright the Retarded Munchkin.

The club would get a similar deal to the one which gifted the City of Manchester Stadium to Manchester City after the Commonwealth Games, so Orient would not have to pay a penny in capital charges.

Instead they would be able to reinvest- presumably in players- the fortune they would be guaranteed from redeveloping their Brisbane Road ground. They would also sign a long-term tenancy deal with the London Development Agency, owners of the freehold.

I think they will have to pay rent and therefore be in a position similar to ourselves of not owning their own ground. Hearn will no doubt sell Brisbane road, pay off some debts and reinvest some in wages / transfer fees. Once that has been spent / squandered they have no major asset and will have to rely upon a 'sugar daddy' with no prospect of buying the ground.
Who will want to buy Brisbane road now that they have sold off and re developed the corners into flats - it will need some novel architecture to make that viable. I personally think they did a good job on the redevelopment of Brisbane Road and always enjoy visiting there as their supporters are always up for a laugh, often at their own teams expense. I don't think that the new stadium will have the same atmosphere as the stands will have to be a fair way from the pitch surely?

I think they will be reducing the capacity after the games to around 20,000, I think it will be around 80,000 for the games themselves. Still seems rather large for Orient unless they progress and maintain a higher position which cannot be guaranteed.
