Another excellent article by Henry Porter in the Observer yesterday re information gathering and ID cards. He argues that the latest fiasco of the lost cds won't deter the govt from their ID scheme and that they will just wait for the furore to die down before getting on with it.
There's already an NHS database which records health records of patients who have never been asked for permission for their details to be uploaded. 300,000 people have access to this database. How many more will have access to much more extensive profiles, if a centralised database were to be set up. Anyone who wanted to know your personal details could find them out, one way or another.
Anyway, Porter has listed various groups to join if you're bothered about this. No use just grumbling, it needs action:

No2ID

ARCH (Action for Rights of Children)

Big Opt Out

Our Kingdom web-site

and send a polite but firm letter to your MP!

Cheers Grabec.

I am 100% against ID cards, and anything else that smacks of central control of our freedom.Oh, and I am sick of hearing "the war on terror" being used as the xcuse for this control. Because its a lie.

Mr ADG.....Well, join up now before it's too late!!

Mr Ripper....I see the problem with your MP, but if all MPs became deluged with letters saying the same thing, the govt might have to listen

Our current Labour incumbent would have his spin doctors claim that a deluge of letters was the public showing their love and gratitude for his sterling work.
