I got a new battery put in my watch beginning of last week.

It works fine when I'm wearing it.

But it stops about two hours after I take it off.

And then it goes ok again when I put it back on (after correcting the time obviously!).

I'm fked if I know why?

Is the battery in upside down? sctatchinghead

Is it a fancy new "energy saving" battery? sctatchinghead

I've had the watch about 10 years and it was fine until the last battery died.

has the back of the watch been put back on correctly or are you pushing the back on whilst wearing it thus making a contact with the battery ?

I'm currently working within a mile of the power station.

'Ere, it's a good watch this- a Krug-Baumen specimen!

I currently have three different watches on the go but don't wanna chuck one that still (sort of) works!

So, is there a deep psychological reason why you're wearing the faulty one ?

Yes.

I want to see if it will start working properly again if I wear it regularly cos prior to putting the new battery in it had been left unused for about 6-12 months so might have been feeling a bit unloved.
