After having to change one of the car tyres due to a puncture, and then re-inflate the spare, the car won't start. The contacts on the battery appear to be surrounded in a light blue foam !!

Not being car-mechanically minded, is this normal ?? sctatchinghead

I can't imagine any scenario where changing a wheel would cause the car to fail to start. It's got a lot colder recently so the above advise is as good as any. Remove the battery, trickle charge it and give the terminals a good wire brushing. Also get your wire brush on the clamps (the bits that connect to the battery.

When the battery is charged, put it back on making sure you tighten up the clamps fully and smear both terminals with graphite grease.
