As things stand Scotland, England, Wales and N Ireland EACH have a vote on FIFA board with only three others allowed to vote.. so no rule change can be brought in unless all the home countries vote for it.. in other words the home countries hold the power in world football... If we ever joined up then we would lose our four votes..

Sorry to be pedantic Frank. The International board was set up by the four home nations to determine the laws of the game, it isn't a FIFA board. When FIFA was formed they decided to adhere to these laws and eventually the current setup was determined where each home nation has a vote, so four votes in total and FIFA has four votes, not three. To change a law requires six votes. Therefore FIFA needs the support of two of the home nations to bring a change but also the home nations need FIFAs approval to make a change too.

I believe there is also a permanent place for a representative from one of the home nations on the FIFA Executive Committee.

I am sure if FIFA tried to force us to merge internationally then there would be enormous pressure against it, not least from UEFA who would probably see it as a bit of a power battle. I think an Olympic GB team would be a good idea and shouldn't mean that the home nations should be forced to merge within FIFA. However, given our privileged status then I can understand the home nations from doing anything that could spark pressure to merge.

so would you support an England failing side than a Britain side that would be successful
despite it being only possibly that two England players were good enough to get in the side

What would be the rest of your team then?

Not that I would feel aggrieved or anything about the omission of English players - they ("top" level players) are, sadly, all w@nkers but are our w@nkers worse than Scotland, Wales and Ireland's w@nkers???

Well I know Engalnd can't proclaim to be a world force but how many players would get in a UK team from Northern Ireland, Wales or Scotland. The only one I can think of (possibly) is Craig Gordon. Ryan Giggs would have a few year ago but I doubt he would now. Robbie Keane maybe?

Anyway there may not be a UK in few years....

rolfl so you saying that there are better players in the other nations in positions that terry, gerrard and lampard play i know that they havent set the world alight but any manager choosing scotish welsh or northern irish players in them positions would be shot down in flames

Robbie Keane plays for the Republic of Ireland. The ROI is not in Great Britain, therefore it would be impossible. Besides, I'm sure the Irish would rather give up football all together than be part of something British.

I only asked because someone asked me the other day and I just wondered what you might have said on this.
